POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Alright folks, time to get vulnerable for a sec. 😅

Most of you know me for the fuckery — the wild takes, the stuff that makes you laugh at 2am. 😂 I like being the guy that disrupts your scroll. That guy's not going anywhere.

But there's a whole side of me most people have never seen. Including a lot of my own family. At least not laid out like this.

I've spent 20 years building brands. 🧱 Learning lessons. Accumulating skills. I've built myself up. Had some memorable crashes. 💥 But clawed my way back more than once. I've got a story I've never really told — partly because I'm private, and partly because, honestly? I've been scared of the judgments of my failures. Or, at least, what I used to think of as failures.

I'm done sitting on it.

Over the next few weeks I'm gonna tell some stories — the real ones, in my own words, before life tells them for me. The wins. The losses. The lessons I learned the hard way, and what I'm building right now with my AI partner, Johnny 🤖, that's helped me put it all back together. (Yeah — we'll get into that too. It's not what you think. 👀)

Hitting "post" on this is wild. 😬 But I've got a feeling some of you are sitting on a story of your own, wondering if it even matters. It does. That's kind of the whole point. And it matters that you find it and tell it your way.

So consider this the trailer. 🎬 The story starts soon. 🏔️

Ever been scared to finally be seen? Tell me in the comments 👇 — you think this story ends well, or you think I stumble and fall? taken in Madison, Wisconsin by @brandonguzzardo

Let me tell you where I'm actually at, cuz I don't want anybody thinking this ends with me on a beach somewhere. I prefer the mountains anyway. Lol. 🏔️

I work overnights. I'm on a crew stocking a store while most of you are asleep. I come home, sleep a few hours, then I build.

That's the whole glamorous picture.

But something did change, and it ain't my circumstances. It's what I can see.

For twenty years I thought I was collecting a pile of unrelated jobs and dead brands. Kitchen design at Menards. Websites I taught myself from a bed. A resale operation that did over a million and then died. A community I helped rebuild and then got too arrogant to hold onto. From the outside that looks like a mess.

It's not a mess. It's a toolkit. 🧰

I've been carrying the same pack this whole climb. Everything I went through is strapped to it, and for the longest time I called it baggage.

Turns out it was never baggage. It was inventory.

Right now I'm building Roam & Fetch — adventure gear for folks who refuse to leave their dog behind. 🐕 Built on purpose as an experiment: can I build a brand that's 80% AI and 20% me?

Before you roll your eyes — that 20% is the whole thing. AI can't tell you what's good. It can't tell you what a brand should feel like, or which idea to kill, or what a customer actually wants at 2am. That's twenty years of getting it wrong that tells you that.

AI didn't replace my experience. It finally gave my experience somewhere to go.

And here's the part I actually care about.

I'm not special. I'm a guy from a blue-collar family who got knocked down a few times and paid attention on the way back up.

You've got a pack too. Every job you thought was a dead end, everything that fell apart, every skill you wrote off — it's all in there.

You just haven't had anything help you see it yet.

I'm not at the top. Not close. But I can see the route now. And I know exactly what's in my pack.

The rest happens live. That's why I'm posting.

So tell me — what's in yours? What have you written off as worthless? I'd bet it's worth more than you think. 👇 by @brandonguzzardo

I joined a group that was in its infancy, but growing.

Under 500 people following it. Good product. Good people. Just not yet dialed in.

And the problem wasn't what anybody thought. It wasn't the marketing. It wasn't the logo. Every good idea they'd ever had got bolted onto the same overloaded thing. New offer? Bolt it on. New audience? Bolt it on. Over time those bolt-ons leave you with a build that's confused and unrecognizable.

If you've ever built anything, you know the feeling. You keep adding, cuz adding feels like progress. Then one day the thing doesn't know what it is anymore. Neither does anybody looking at it. That's when the doubt sets in and the fall begins.

So we took it apart. 🔧

Not to throw anything out — everything they'd built had value. It was just all in one pile. We broke it into tiers. Every level got one job, and every level pointed at the same purpose.

Under 500 people became over a hundred thousand. 📈

Now here's the part I don't get to skip.

At the time? I thought I did that.

I really thought it. Walking around like I was the shit. Like I'd shown up and fixed what nobody else could.

Looking back, I was a fool.

Cuz what actually happened is a room full of people who knew exactly what they were doing respected me enough to give me space to work. They handed me room. They picked up what I dropped. They made my ideas better and let me keep the credit.

That result was theirs as much as mine. Took me years to understand that.

And it cost me. That chapter didn't end great with most of those folks, and I don't get to blame anybody except the guy who thought he was the reason it worked.

Here's what I walked away with, and it's the most useful thing I know:

It's not what you do. It's how you do it.

The skill gets you in the door. How you treat people decides whether you get to stay — and whether anybody hands you room next time. I've watched talented people burn every bridge they had cuz they couldn't stop needing the credit. I was damn near one of them.

Ever looked back at a win and realized you weren't the whole reason for it? Come at me. 👇 by @brandonguzzardo

It all started with $170 for a box of old Playboys at a garage sale.

I know how that sounds. Who buys Playboys anymore? Stick with me. 😅

The first five out of that box sold for over forty grand. All said and done, that $170 became north of a hundred thousand dollars. 💰

Everybody else walked right past it. Who wants a stack of dusty old magazines? Nobody. But I saw a complete, intact collection — and I knew what "complete" was worth to the right buyer.

That's when I realized one man's trash is truly another man's treasure. Turns out that's what all great businesses are built on.

We built Bizy Bz Buzzar on that idea. Started as a hobby on FB Marketplace, grew into over six selling platforms. Branding, photography, SEO, pricing, inventory — all in-house, all ours.

Over a million in sales across the life of that brand, at 20%+ margins — and I can prove both, cuz I learned the hard way that a claim you can't prove ain't worth making.

Then March 2020 happened.

Our whole model ran on the garage sale scene — finding stuff cheap before anybody else did. The world shut down, and every one of those doors closed at once.

We ran lean on purpose. Fast turns, no dead stock. Smart, right up until the second you can't restock. Three months of runway sat in inventory. Then it was gone.

For a long time I thought I'd never climb out. But all it took was a shift in how I saw it — not a hole, but a shaft with light at the end.

The brand was working. The model just had a crack, and 2020 found it.

That scar became a rule I still build by. Roam & Fetch is print-on-demand today — no inventory, no sourcing, nothing that can run dry. I engineered out the exact thing that killed the last one.

I didn't do anything new. I did what all successful people do: I chose not to get hit by the same truck twice, rather than staying off the road completely.

Next up: somebody handed me a brand that was already breaking. 👀 (Under 500 people. Then a hundred thousand.)

What's the best thing you ever bought that everybody else walked past? Come at me. 👇

Those I loved recommended I go on disability. Me? In my 20s? My brain couldn't fathom it. 🧠

Honestly, they weren't wrong to suggest it. Everything I'd ever done required me to be physical. My brain hadn't been leveraged yet.

Let me back up. After Menards let me go, life went downhill fast. 📉 Lost the car. Lost the apartment. Moved into my sister's place with what I could carry.

And I still didn't know what was wrong with me.

Then my mom watched me have a seizure while I was napping. That's how I found out. That's how any of us found out. All those missed shifts, all those alarms I slept through — my body had been doing this for months and I had no idea.

The diagnosis came after. Then it got worse. Close to three years mostly bedridden. Up to a dozen seizures a week. There were stretches where I needed help with things a grown man shouldn't need help with.

So when my family brought up disability, that wasn't cruelty. That was them looking at the guy on the couch and doing the math.

I told them no.

Not because I'm tough. My body couldn't do physical work anymore — fine. But my head still worked. My memory was swiss cheese, sure. But I could still think. I could still learn. Whatever the seizures took, they hadn't taken that.

So I did the only thing a guy can do from a bed. I got on YouTube and Facebook and taught myself to build websites. 💻

No course. No degree. Free videos and stubbornness, a few hours at a time, between the days I lost entirely.

Eventually somebody paid me for it. A roofing company. Then a detail shop. Then a few more. That turned into Blueprint Branding — the first thing I built with my own name behind it.

That "no" was the hinge. 🏔️ Every brand I've built since runs straight back through one decision made by a broke guy on his sister's couch who had no business being that confident.

I didn't refuse because I had a plan. I refused because saying yes felt like signing something I couldn't unsign.

Next up: what happens when that guy finds out he's got an eye for what everybody else walks right past. 👀 (Starts with a $170 bet. 💰)

My dad taught me one rule above all: never let another man tell you your experience isn't what you lived. Believe in yourself when you've got the memories to back it.

Hold onto that. Because years later, my own brain would try to take those memories from me.

Let's back up. ⏪

My parents split when I was 6. My mom had custody at first — she wasn't bad, just troubled, and it made for a rough childhood. Then my stepmom came in and everything shifted. She was the anchor ⚓ that let my dad focus, work, and win custody of us. Brought "family" back when it felt brittle.

My dad was the worker — electrical, framing, carpentry, cabinets. Jacks of all trades, both sides of my family. So I grew up building things with my hands. My favorite toy was LEGO. 🧱 (Still is. Don't @ me. 😂)

That's why I was good at Menards. Walked in cutting millwork in '06 and climbed to Department Manager over Cabinets — on the design side now. Designed folks' dream kitchens, one ran $140k. 📐 I designed with an installer's mind, so I could talk clients through what other designers couldn't.

And then my own brain started betraying me.

Epilepsy. Seizures I didn't know I was having. Memory loss that turned chunks of my life to fog. Sit with the cruelty — my dad built my confidence on trusting my memories, and here was the one thing that could steal them. In 2012 I slept clean through a whole shift, no idea I'd had a seizure. It cost me the career I'd spent six years building.

For a long time I called that the thing that broke me.

Or, at least, that's what I used to think.

Because that fall 🏔️ is the whole reason I'm who I am. It made me rebuild from nothing. And the memories I lost? I've spent this year clawing them back — with my AI partner, Johnny 🤖 — turning the wreck into the story I'm telling you now.

The limitation became the gift.

Next up: what I did when I couldn't go back to the only trade I'd known. 👀

What did YOUR upbringing hand you that you still use today? Or you think I'm romanticizing a rough start? Come at me. 👇 by @brandonguzzardo
