[the serendipity of our beloved summer in 日本]

I couldn’t be more grateful to meet you guys, future diplomats, lawyers, and leaders and changemakers. I still remember vividly how’s everyone speaks their best english accent (incl. me trying to😂) during the first day but gradually was starting to speak in their accents as days went by😂.

The 3 weeks I was in Japan (including the 13 days I spent in Hiroshima) was such a valuable experience. The academic learning and life lessons I got were overwhelmingly impactful. It’s such a pleasure to be in an environment of high achievers yet humble and kind, with people who have differing firm values, beliefs, and background yet so open and tolerant, making this not just a “networking opportunity” but a chance to foster a lifetime international friendship.

Instead of pondering on how when where could we meet again, I would say that I’m glad I met all of you. I am glad that you guys were born, grew up so well and made it to INU Student Seminar🇯🇵. I’m in delight that you guys continue to do your best thanks to this experience. Thanks to everyone, now I have another amazing stories to tell to my other friends, my family, and my future kids and grandkids, the longest yet shortest 13 days of my life being a part of a young generation working to make change happen, achieving peace.

여러분 안녕하세요. 일단 이 caption이 내가 직접으로 적었고, 오타 아니면 잘 못 쓰는 것 있을 거 같아서, 좀 이해 해 주세요, 진짜로 한국인 아니라서🤣.

지금부터 제가 글로 변한 마음은 시작 하겠습니다. 제가 시작 했던 새로운 장이 밝았는데 끝나는 글이 씁니다. 그동안 6개 월 동안 한국에서 살 때 많이 좋은 기억이 만들었어서, 제 인생에서 가장 행복한 순간이에요. 여러분의 덕분에, 한국의 삶이 별로 외롭지 않아요. 여러분이랑 하나 씩 하나 씩으로 알고 될수 있고 좋은 친구도 될수 있기 너무 좋았습니다. 개인적으로, 우리 만날 수있기 때문에 많이 좋은 것들 배웠어요. 그런데 지금 한국에서 떠나기 시간이 와서, 좀 믿을 수 없는데, 제 6개 월 길인데 짧은 기간 벌써 끝났는데라고 생각 많이 했어요. 그래서 이번 드디어 (이번에) 마지막으로 인천 공항으로 와서 인도네시아로 가고, 최대한 빨리 만날 수 있도록위해서 인생을 열심히로 하고 최선으로도 해야 돼요. 앞으로 우리 다시 만날 때까지 저를 인생 여정으로 잘 지켜 봐주시고 예쁘게 응원 해 주시면 좋겠습니다. 제 인생에서 부분을 되 주셔서 고맙습니다. 지금까지, 3개 이름이 있는 사람이고 곽충명 Brandon 郭忠明이였습니다. 감사합니다!

A long yet short time. It didn’t felt real as my journey korea will be put to an end (or shall I say paused). A lot of people may think that for the past year I’ve achieved various great achievements, which is true at some point. But more than that, I’m so grateful that through every process starting from departing from Jakarta until it’s time to depart from Seoul, I have my support system back from my homeland: my family, my late grandmother, my 6 high school best friends and my unpar friends who still bother to reach out to me and take part in my journey as witnesses by cheering upon me.

Personally, I believe that the worldly prestige that I managed to achieve isn’t God’s main purpose for me being here. It’s only a ticket for me to experience a change, a life lesson. For the past 6 months, I learned so much about life thanks to the beautiful souls I met. My fellow foreigner friends, my korean friends, and my Indonesian friends in Korea I’m so grateful for all of you, especially you guys who got to receive my letter and small farewell gift. (Cont. Semua dimulai dari bisikkan halus dalam hati yang ideal “nanti kalo gua masuk HI, magangnya di luar negeri bakal di KBRI atau di hotel kali ya😂”. Sampai sekarang masih sering tidak menyangka bahwa ternyata bisikkan itu telah menjadi kenyataan sampai akhirnya sekarang sudah tamat magang. Senang bisa mencicipi kerja seorang diplomat atau abdi negara.

Banyak sekali pengalaman yang sangat pragmatis (tidak hanya substansi) yang seandainya aku tidak menjadi diplomat pun, tetap dapat menjadi ilmu kedepannya bagi aku.

TMI, keberadaan aku di Korsel menuntut aku untuk menjadi “unofficial diplomat” karena orang-orang yang tak pernah menyangka bahwa aku adalah WNI.

Alhasil, setiap keadaan tersebut terjadi, aku selalu mencoba menjelaskan keberagaman dan kekayaan ras, etnis, agama, dan sumber daya alam Indonesia. Aku pun menegaskan meskipun aku berdarah dan beretnis Tiong-kok, hal tersebut tidak berarti bahwa “I’m less Indonesian”. Karena seperti kemeja yang aku pakai, jiwaku selalu merah putih🇮🇩
