La Traviata was the first opera I ever saw back in 2011 with Madison Opera. Little 6-foot-5, junior-high Brandon had no idea how much that one show would change the entire trajectory of his life.

I am so grateful that over the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to be part of two amazing productions of this masterwork, most recently with Opera Columbus. Thank you to everyone at @opera.columbus, @columbussymphony, and @capacolumbus for being so welcoming during my time in Columbus. I’m incredibly thankful to have met and created art with all of you, and I hope we get to make more art together again soon!

The last two months have been a whirlwind, but I couldn’t have asked to be surrounded by better people to help me close out 2025. From performing in my first show with Kentucky Opera in La Traviata, stepping in at the last minute for All Is Calm, to celebrating my dad and Darci’s wedding, and completing half of my doctoral coursework, this year has been full of milestones. I’m deeply thankful for what this year has taught me and for the growth that happened along the way. Here’s to 2026!!! 🦕🦆 by @brandonwhitish

Alongside my coach and collaborative pianist, Professor Robert Bosworth, we will be performing the works of Mahler, Boulanger, Heggie, Mendelssohn, Arlen & Harburg, and Tosti.

If you’re unable to attend the recital but still want to enjoy it, a link to the video stream will be available here at a later date.

I am deeply honored to have workshopped and presented Paul Moravec and Mark Campbell’s A Nation of Others as an opera for the very first time. It has been a profound experience helping to realize and create the role of Connor—an Irish immigrant forced to flee his home of Tralee, Ireland, due to the Irish War of Independence in 1921. Like so many others, he made the difficult journey through Ellis Island in hopes of building a better life for himself and his family.

This story, like countless others in our shared history, is one of resilience, sacrifice, and hope. As we continue developing this powerful work toward its fully staged operatic premiere in 2026, I look forward to further exploring Connor’s journey and the larger themes that make A Nation of Others so deeply relevant today.

This past weekend was such a whirlwind! It was a great joy and pleasure to perform the role of The Count in @ukoperatheatre production of Le nozze di Figaro. I would not have been able to perform 4 shows in 46 hours without the support of so many amazing cast mates, covers, production staff, crew, coaches, and orchestra members. Thank you for always lifting me up and for allowing me to serve Count. 🪶 taken in Lexington Opera House by @brandonwhitish
