At the @jasonheiglfoundation (JHF), we're dedicated to ending the needless suffering of animals caused by cruelty, indifference, and ignorance. When concerns arose about Dogtown Ranch in Texas, we were deeply worried. Like many in the rescue community, we had trusted Dogtown with several dogs in need of placement. My co-founder and Mom, Nancy Heigl, reached out to Brandywine Valley SPCA @brandywinespca , a leader in the no-kill movement, to see what could be done. When animals need help, BVSPCA goes the distance, and they certainly did. CEO Adam Lamb and his team have secured the voluntary surrender of 82 dogs from the property, including all five JHF dogs who remained there. The Milam County Sheriff's Office has since charged Dogtown Ranch's founder with animal cruelty. Seeing Flower, one of the JHF dogs, safe in BVSPCA's care is a relief we can't put into words. Baby Reina, a senior dog who fought hard to survive, became a voice for all the animals and is now out of the hospital and recovering with BVSPCA. Our gratitude to BVSPCA for helping all of these dogs is immeasurable. JHF applauds and supports BVSPCA, and we hope you will too. In animal welfare, the best outcomes for animals come when we stand together. If you're able, please donate to BVSPCA's lifesaving work for these dogs: bvspca.org/DogtownRanchJHF (link in bio). by @brandywinespca

‼ UPDATE: Dogtown Ranch is EMPTY 🐾 More than a week of hard work by the BVSPCA team in Texas, 82 dogs have been surrendered, and 1 horse has been relocated outside of Dogtown Ranch. There are no animals left on the property! This is a huge moment for these animals, one our team fought to make happen after accessing the property, documenting what we found, and working toward a voluntary surrender that would get every animal out safely. Baby Reina, the senior dog we found locked away in a metal crate and severely emaciated, is now out of emergency care and recovering with us. She fought hard to survive and her story became a siren for all the animals. Milam County Sheriff’s Office has charged Dogtown Ranch’s founder with animal cruelty. Add your voice to ours. Let’s help all animals rescued from Dogtown Ranch begin a new life, one where compassion leads them toward a second chance and a loving home. Donate to support their care; Adopt a survivor, or another dog to make room for a Texas Dog; And share this story to reach more people. taken in Rockdale, Texas by @brandywinespca

Tuna found his family during our July National Adoption Week, and his new mom fell head over heels the moment they met. ❤️ She has two cats at home, but as she says, "Those are for my kids. Tuna is for me!" Now Tuna is her baby, soaking up kisses, cuddles, and all the love he could ask for. We can't wait to see more pets find the people who are meant for them. Visit your local @PetSmart during National Adoption Week, October 19–25 to meet your new best friend. by @brandywinespca

💕 UPDATE 🐾 Baby Reina is home with us now. The sweet senior spent days at an emergency vet before she was cleared to travel. She has now arrived at our West Chester campus where the next leg of her healing journey begins. She was seen by our caring vet, Dr. Moon, who is treating her eye and ear infections, and is continuing her special refeeding plan to help her gain weight at a safe pace. Since we carried her out of a locked metal crate at the Dogtown Ranch property in Texas, Baby Reina has taught us all a lesson in resilience and love. This girl just wants to snuggle, give kisses, and chow down. She still has a long road ahead, and it is not an easy one, especially for a senior dog,  but we will do everything we can to give her the resources she needs to heal and gain her strength. A dedicated and experienced foster is taking her home where we know she will be able to relax and feel safe. Send some love to Baby Reina, we all are. #dogtownranch #bvspca #babyreina taken in West Chester, PA by @brandywinespca
