What a week, Branksome! 🐸 Our Senior Soccer Team was in New Brunswick for the CAIS Senior Girls Soccer Tournament ⚽️! Grade 3 students continued their inquiry into Indigenous perspectives with a trip through Crawford Lake's longhouses 🧡.

Parents also got tips from guest speaker Julia Swaigen from @attuned_families, who explored how to strengthen connections with adolescents so families can enjoy healthier and more rewarding relationships 🫂.

This fall, Branksome Hall is proud to host the Canadian premiere of the acclaimed global portrait exhibition "200 Women Who Will Change the Way You See the World," marking its 10th anniversary. 🌍💚

Featuring 37 large-scale portraits and candid interviews with trailblazers like Margaret Atwood, Jane Goodall and the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the exhibition transforms our new Karen L. Jurjevich Innovation Centre and Studio Theatre (iCAST) into a vibrant gallery of inspiration.

At the iCAST launch ceremony on September 17, Principal Grace McCallum highlighted the school’s commitment to surrounding students with models of possibility, leadership and vision: “This collection of striking portraits honours that shared legacy, inspiring students and all who visit to keep opening doors for future generations.”

The iCAST is making headlines again! 📖

Toronto Guardian writer Joel Levy explores our new Karen L. Jurjevich Innovation Centre and Studio Theatre (iCAST) and how students are already using it. Grade 8s are designing toys for kindergarten “clients,” theatre students are learning physics through stage lighting and sound, and our robotics team is fabricating its own components in the metal shop. From JK to Grade 12, iCAST brings science, technology, design, media and the performing arts together under one roof.

Branksome Hall parents Dr. Jessica Liu, Dr. Hedieh Molla Ghanbari and Daniel Tiberini were recently honoured with the Toronto Citizen Hero Award at Toronto Emergency Services Headquarters.

On July 25, 2026, a routine sprinting workout near Rosedale Park Recreation Centre turned life-threatening when a young man collapsed unexpectedly. Bystanders and parents from a nearby children’s soccer game rushed to assist, including Dr. Liu, Dr. Ghanbari and Tiberini. Discovering the man had no pulse, Dr. Liu and Dr. Ghanbari immediately began CPR while Tiberini sprinted to retrieve an automated external defibrillator (AED). Following their efforts and treatment at a hospital, the man regained consciousness and has since made a full recovery.

Please join us in honouring these extraordinary members of our community for their quick, life-saving actions and courage. They have truly made a difference. 💚 by @branksomehall

Join us in celebrating Jie Ying WU‘11, winner of the 2026 Young Alum Achievement Award! 🎉 This honour goes to an alum aged 40 or under who leads with strong character, inspires others through service and innovation, and is already making a real difference in their community.

As an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Vanderbilt University, she combines machine learning and augmented reality to give surgical tools a more active role in the operating room. Her research aims to help surgical teams work better together, move automation forward and enhance how surgeons are trained. She has also played a key part in the da Vinci Research Kit, the open-source surgical robotics platform used by researchers around the world, helping lay the foundation for its next generation.

Back at Branksome Hall, Jie Ying played clarinet in both the concert band and orchestra, and led fundraisers for the animal rights club. We can’t wait to see what she does next. Congratulations, Jie Ying! 👏

Congratulations to Dr. Valerie KORINEK’84, recipient of the 2026 Allison Roach Alumna Award. This award honours an alum whose distinction, character and vision have made a lasting, positive impact.

An internationally recognized historian, she has spent 30 years at the University of Saskatchewan, where she holds the A.S. Morton Chair in History. Her award-winning book, Prairie Fairies: A History of Queer Communities and People in Western Canada, 1930–1985, has helped bring the stories of women and 2SLGBTQ+ communities into Canada's national narrative. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, she was appointed to the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada in 2024.

Valerie credits her years at Branksome Hall, from Grade 8 through Grade 13, with instilling the belief that she could achieve anything she set out to do. Thank you, Valerie, for making Branksome proud! 💚
