Had a thrilling time playing with the Undertale "Determination Symphony" last week; my first time at the beautiful Fox Theater Detroit.

Fun coincidence that this show- the largest crowd I've ever performed in front of- featured some of the most difficult guitar parts I've ever performed 😅

I have to brag on this pup a bit!

Lucille is half sighthound, half circus dog -- she is naturally a quick, agile chaser of ground mammals, the occasional fly, and laser pointers. This girl has not one birding bone in her body. In fact, I don't even know if she *sees* birds as any different than a rock or tree stump. Yet, she is now successfully keeping our local park free of Canadian geese! Check out the video to see her in action last fall.

After I heard about Goose Busters, who hires Border Collies to redirect geese, I thought... could Lucille...? For years at the baseball diamond park across the street, there have been swarms of Canadian geese, leaving a mess in their wake (imagine diving for a fly ball in that - bleh). Geese aren't afraid of me... but they may be afraid of a dog that looks like a fox...?

But how to get Lucille to recognize that geese are a thing? At first, when we'd go into the field, full of geese, and I'd say, "Go get 'em, Lu!" (what I say when throwing a toy), she'd look around, excitedly, like: "Get what??? I see literally nothing but grass!!"

So, one day I started running with her towards the flock. She was confused (I do not run), but was happy to go along. The geese honked as we approached and then took to the sky in a flooooosh! Then we'd repeat the next time we saw them at the park. The first few times, Lucille looked genuinely surprised watching the floosh: "Those plants can fly??"

Eventually, it clicked! She realized if she saw the goose-shaped bushes making honking sounds, she'd be allowed to run after them until they were airborne. And with that, my teenaged girl finally got a jobby-job. And truly, she's been great at it.

Too great at it, as it turns out -- After a couple of these run-offs, the geese learned to hang out somewhere else. She worked herself out of a job! We pass the park daily now, seeing teams practicing, their cleats clean of goose poop, with no idea that Lucille got them the privilege. Lucille lifts her head as we walk by, looking for geese that aren't there anymore, and I still praise her for a job well done.

Let me know if you need her services elsewhere! :) She'd love to help!!

Memories of Fiddler on the Roof last fall. Leveled up considerably on mandolin. Other important moments:

2. @g_krup making "whale sounds" with his superball mallets during "The Dream".

3. Being overcome by fog (also "The Dream") and feeling like we're in a haunted house. (featuring @storypotential)

4. The iconic "Tevye's monologue is over" guitar riff; my big solo moment.

“Everything You Know is Wrong” - Weird Al Yankovic

We saw Weird Al live in Windsor a month ago and I was reminded of how great his original songwriting is. @jimkimowest and @paytonrosevelligan sounded excellent on guitar. So I decided to transcribe one of my favorite songs from the show and make a video. Full video on Youtube (link in bio).

This is also in honor of the Weird Al broadway musical that appears to have just had its first workshop. Let it be known to the powers that be (@AlexTimbers, @alfredyankovic ) that I will drop everything to serve in the pit for this important show. by @branlimblin

Happy 14th anniversary to @ciarastella and Happy 14th birthday* to Lucille! One of you has always supported me, and one of you barks if anyone sings or claps in the house. I am very grateful for both of you.

*Lucille’s birthday was assigned by the shelter as 6/28/12, but no one really knows. Maybe she was born on our wedding day?? by @branlimblin
