“Successful families are maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities.” I read this quote from Gordon B. Hinckley while I was a single guy serving my mission… I remember the spirit hitting me so strongly as I read it, and I underlined “WHOLESOME RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES”. I literally wrote in the margin “LAKE TRIPS” and decided no matter what happened. My family would be a lake trip family! I even told myself I would have to take a girl to the lake before marrying her to make sure she was legit! Luckily @shelbyrgrant loved the lake!! We probably bought a boat before it made sense financially… Started coming to Powell whatever the cheapest way we could was… But let me tell you… Being at the lake the last few years with Shelby and watching our boys start to love it has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. Nothing I have spent money on has created this type of ROI on life. People say, “Boats are such a bad investment.” And I say, I feel bad for those people, and their kids. Watching Heber learn to work and help the boys set stuff up… Wanting to drive and be a part of the process… Yelling “get the flag up” when someone falls… Learning to push through falling and getting water up the nose over and over again trying to surf… All just lessons and experiences I’m not sure how else we could get. Hardly any time spent on phones. Secluded from work and the world… Great friends and family… The lake is a special place. Grateful that God has put us here!❤️🙏⚡️ by @bravengrant

why your circle will make or break you It’s a lonely path and not many people are around to see the late nights and understand the struggles. @bravengrant built his business with a few good friends. He built into those relationships as they built the business together and that attracted special people to their mission. They’ve built together, they’ve faced adversity together, and they celebrated together. So grateful for good men that my sons will get to grow up around… The hunting trips like this that my Papa and uncle Hunter took me on all growing up are some of the greatest memories of my life! They are also times that taught me a lot about life, work, and what being a good man looks like beyond just following a checklist of rules. High value people don’t need another coffee invite. Their time IS money. Walking up and asking for 20 minutes is the same as asking for a check. So flip it.
