I thought I would do a quick bio here. My name is Brey, like the color gray. I have been a commercial plumber for almost two decades. I loved to swim and draw as a kid, but nothing more than the basics. I love adventure and the outdoors, and more than anything, water.

At 32 I got into triathlon. I hadn't ever run more than a mile, swam 100 yards or biked further than 10 miles. Swimming was the pull for me though. I completed my first mile swim almost a year later, and did my first 10k open water this year. That was 8 years of solid effort. I never imagined I would be where I am today.

I have always wanted to paint, and the beginning of this year I started to realize, if I can spend 8 years learning one skill, I can do that with anything. So I am diving into painting. I started by trying to treat it like swimming, scheduled practice and patience. Now I am obsessed. There is so much peace in painting. There is also excitement and adventure. I can't wait to see where this goes! by @braveryarts

One of the waterfalls we passed climbing up Mt. Whitney. Seriously this hike was so gorgeous! I would like to redo the first half, because there was so much to see, but we kinda had a mountain to climb too.

From the trail to Mt Whitney. This is about the halfway point. Some permits allow camping in the clearing left of this little lake. We used this water as a fill up point before climbing the 99 switchbacks to get to the backside of those peaks at the top. You might have to pry this painting out of my hands, but its avaiable😆

Mt. Whitney, 14,505. Tallest peak in the lower 48 states.

@chad.avery.108 drew out this 1% permit hike in January. It was a phenomenal hike! @keate.dean and I had all the time in the world to prepare, but kinda neglected the training. We all figured we could at the very least make it to the top.

We started the trail at 2 am, and got in 4 hours of hiking in the dark, moonlight was enough for most of it. We made it about halfway up the climb at that point. That section was all trees and waterfalls! The second half of the climb was switchbacks and rocks. I am glad Keate and Chad were leading the way, because I really started sucking air above 14,000'. We took it slow and had a good time. I was ready to be done as soon as we turned around, but felt better every time we had a little rest.

I have so many photos, and I will probably have to do a painting collection of the Mt. Whitney trail and wilderness. taken in Mt Whitney Summit by @braveryarts
