At the end of the month I’m returning to Toledo to finish this project. It will be so good to see it in the final state. One of the museum’s curators reached out over a year ago. It became a year of experimentation, education, and growth through this process. Meet the Artists of Majnoon✨

Brian Ray Barber @brbdstudio is an architect, artist, and proud member of the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma. He holds an MFA in Glass from The Ohio State University and a Master of Architecture from the University of Michigan. His artwork has been exhibited in museums across the country and is part of numerous collections.

Currently based in Seattle, Brian continues to explore the intersections of art, material, and cultural narrative through his multidisciplinary practice.

At Majnoon, he created a series of pendant lights — a commissioned piece made in collaboration with the space — that reflects both his architectural precision and his deep reverence for craft and storytelling. taken in Seattle, Washington by @brbdstudio

Catching up on all the recent activities. Lighting project for @majnoonsea was installed while I was in Toledo. Phew! To be honest I wasn’t sure if they would be ready for the install before the final inspection. There’s no minute like the last minute for things to come together!

Last week I was able to get back to Toledo Museum of Art to work on a commission. Our first attempt didn’t turn out, so we took a different approach this time: kilncasting instead of sandcasting. The time I spent with the team at the Glass Pavilion was great. We got a week’s worth of work done in two days. They’re a group of really hard working individuals. Yesterday I had the opportunity to make some work for the Toledo Museum of Art. It just so happens the they have a great studio there at the museum. It was a great day with the hotshop crew. It’ll take another few days in the studio to get it all finished, but I think everyone learned a lot! #toledomuseumofart #toledoglasspavilion #glassartwork by @brbdstudio

So good to be back. It was under unfortunate circumstances and very brief, but still good to spend time with the family.
I also couldn’t leave without going by and seeing the earthlodge. So beautiful. Keeping tradition alive is important!!!
