From “Dead Man Rises”, a Bread and Puppet show first performed in 1968. Puppeteer Lilith Smith has brought this dreamlike, strange and beautiful show back to life! Advice: Don’t think too hard about what it means. Let yourself enter into its world. “It’s a poem— the only poem that I’ve ever seen on the stage... I have no idea whether it lasts 15 minutes, or 5 minutes, or an hour and 5 minutes. Come and see it today at 3 pm right before the Demonology show in the Dirt Floor Cathedral at Bread and Puppet Farm. Or, next week at our Leaf Peeping event on Sunday October 4. by @breadandpuppet

Come one, come all! The @breadandpuppet circus is performing in Des Moines’ Riverview Park in two weeks, on Weds Oct 7th 🐿️🎪

Showtime is 7p, but come early to enjoy the park, local food vendors, and a special introduction at 6:30p by @poetryamp_iowa !

Bring a chair or blanket. $20 suggested donation to the performers, no one turned away for lack of funds.

After the show, Bread & Puppet will be serving their homemade bread with aioli, and their iconic Cheap Art will be available for purchase.

In case of rain, we will be relocating to the nearby Reichardt Community Recreation Center. Stay tuned for updates!

THANK YOU to everyone who joined us yesterday at @rockawayfilmfest for our collaborative outdoor performance/screening with @breadandpuppet! It was a truly memorable evening filled with bread, puppets, and filmic gems sourced from the collection of The Film-Makers’ Cooperative (including Lise Noiseux’s 1967 Bread & Puppet doc PERE NOEL USA and DeeDee Halleck and George Griffin’s landmark 1975 doc MEADOWS GREEN).
