Golden Birthday Edition

1. Grad pic. No more school ever. Hold me to it.
2. I couldn’t find him for ten minutes. He got stuck.
3. How do I not include this one?
4. He’s ready for opening weekend.

This is my Oma.

Last night, she went home to be with the Lord.

We weren’t designed to deal with grief. I’ve known that for a long time, but am understanding it most right now. There are no words to make it easier, there are no ways to get the time back, there are no ways to fill the sorrow of the absence.

The unshakable hope of Christ is all we have. It is all we have to cling to, and even though it still feels difficult, it is enough.

Maria was incredibly special to me. She came into our lives at a very difficult time of change, and is the sole reason why we chose the church we currently attend. She took us in as her grandchildren, and loved us like her own. She was an incredibly virtuous woman of Christ, and always spoke nothing but encouragement into our lives.

This October, we planned to visit Germany with her, to see her home country and where she grew up. She showed us time and time again how much she viewed us like family.

The weight is heavy. Her absence is loud. But her presence in Heaven sings a celebration in my heart.

My best friend.

David called me crying back in 2022 when he was told he would be able to pursue his masters at Cairn. He was so excited and so overwhelmed with gratitude for the opportunity.

He then worked tirelessly taking classes, while working extreme hours, traveling long distances for work, calling me from hotel rooms while writing papers. He had his goal in mind, and stopped at nothing to achieve it.

He graduated with his degree in just two short years, and now has a masters in religion.

David is a tank. He stops at nothing to achieve the goal in mind, to run the race before him.
