*Classic* California warm, dry weather + crispy clear water. Love skinning it on days like this and getting reverse-sauna effect.

ENDGAME
Closing out one quest on my multifaceted journey; The final section,
On a board built with my father,
In a lightweight build unlike anything else,
Down the street from the family homebase,
Completely present on my best effort.
Not perfect and not without lots of work to do but a culmination of my current, committed best.

I’m grateful for the heroes of story and real experience that have inspired me to take risk in my life. To choose to dare. I see now I could have done so much more in so many ways. I have regrets. May the gods bless us all with continued courage as we attempt to move forward on the adventure of life. To take on risk to help others - to be heroic in some way 🙏🏼

I’ve only seen the trailer but those words resonated. Also “Be Kind”... been thinking about how to keep working on that. It’s actually a question of leadership. More another time.

🤙🏽🤙🏽SHAKE AND BAKE 🤙🏽🤙🏽
We tried out a new build approach that’s significantly less labor intensive so we’ve been calling it “Shake & Bake Construction” (still plenty labor intensive though 😆😅).

Top results so far 🎉

This one is a 5’5” classic fish shape with a funky/massive thumb tail. Three boxes so ride it with keels, keels + nub, 2+1 or even tri-fins (will post some pics with more fin options shown).

Heavier than our classic construction but not by much. The board still beats my one lb/ft lightweight-metric at 5.3lbs/5.41ft (for perspective, ~33% lighter than what a person would expect for a surfboard this size).

🎵I AINT NO JOKE 🎵
The 6’9” Big Fish is not kidding around. It paddles fast, trims and turns in the smallest summer junk but gets in early and has a good amount of rocker in the nose to make critical drops when the surf is good.
I got barreled twice on Sunday and that’s been a minute since that’s happened.
With a nagging foot injury and all the other trappings of middle agedness I can see myself spending a lot more time on shapes like this 🎉😅😎
