Another week down, and a few more barriers broken just the way we do it! 😮‍💨🎳

This week was packed! From thought stimulating presentations and 1 on 1 interviews to the amazing chance to experience wildlife from South Africa and let’s not forget the fun we had with The Treasure Gems.💎💎 @chrissylanese

It’s so important to start asking our kids early, Who do you want to be? Where do you want to go? And just as importantly: What do you think it will take to get there?

Because at the end of the day, it’s the dream and the “why” that will keep them going when life gets tough!!!!!

Wowww just like that, we’ve already walked down three weeks!
New guest speakers, new field trips, exciting activities but most importantly, more barriers have been broken.⛓️‍💥⛓️‍💥

When I first stepped into this role, I had so many ideas about how I could help the boys, how I could guide and coach them. But let me tell you they’ve been the ones helping and coaching me.

They’ve taught me patience.
They’ve taught me new lingo 😂
They’ve taught me that sometimes (well… a lot of times), you’ve got to hop off your high horse and play in the mud.

I’m beyond grateful and humbled to have these special young men placed in my life.

Before I knew my strengths, I couldn’t but now I can.

The first week of Breaking Barriers Camp was a success!
It came with uncertainty, doubt, and a whirlwind of emotions 😮‍💨 but just like it started, it had to come to an end. And we, the Breaking Barriers team, are beyond grateful that it ended on a high note.

Now it’s time to reset, refocus, and get ready for Week 2. You already know… we’re gonna break even more barriers! 💪

Today marked the official first day of the Breaking Barriers Boys Program and my heart is truly full.
It is an absolute honor to work with these amazing young men. My staff and I do not take this responsibility lightly. Although a few of our boys were missing today, we still had a phenomenal time together.

The focus of Day One was all about connection and collaboration. We allowed the boys to create their own rules, helping them take ownership and accountability for the standards they set. We also began instilling the core values of teamwork, respect, and leadership.

Through group activities like football, kickball, and even Simon Says, the boys practiced vital skills like listening, cooperation, accountability, and discipline all while having fun. At Breaking Barriers, we win as a team and we lose as a team. Let’s just say the telephone game didn’t go so well today… so the team had a few push ups to knock out 💪🏾 but they took it like champs!
