OUT NOW!! BR030 THE THOUGHT CRIMINALS - Hilton Bomber 7”First reissue in over 20 years for the killer debut release of one of the best Australian Punk bands. Formed in 1977 in Sydney the band was inspired by the DIY ethic of the Desperate Bicycles. While the Criminals and the Bicycles shared an attitude (indeed, the Australians take the anti-profit angle further yet with their ‘I Won’t Pay For Punk Records’, which begs the question of how this was sold), there’s a burlier, more overtly aggressive thrust here, and all four cuts are legit minor classics of tough, smart early Punk Rock. Originally released in June 1978 on the band’s own Doublethink label, only 250 were pressed, an original copy of this impossible-to-find 7” it will costs you about $3000 (if you are lucky enough to find one), in 2006 Ascension Records reissued it along with their second single “Food For Thoughtcrimes”. The band Released three other singles and two LPs before disbanded in 1981. #thethoughtcriminals #aussiepunk #reissue #kbd by @breakout_records

OUT NOW!! BR029 THE EXILE - The Real People 7” In 1978 they signed to “Charly Records” and released a second single “The Real People”. In May of the same year, Robert Kirk quit the band and was replaced by Gavin Peterson. Gavin only stayed in the band until August of ‘78 and was then replaced by Paul Armour previously of the Cuban Heels. The band decided to call it a day in 1980. Out of the ashes a new band was formed called Friction who released a single called “World In Crisis” on their own Boring label. #theexile #ukpunk #cubanheels #scottishpunk by @breakout_records

OUT NOW!! BR028 THE EXILE - Don’t Tax Me È.P. 7”The Exile were a four piece Scottish Punk band who formed in February 1977 by Graham Scott (v/gtr), Stan Workman (gtr), Robert Kirk (b/v) and Dougie Burns (d); they were one of Glasgow’s first Punk bands. In their career they released two singles, plus they were featured on the Punk compilation album “Streets” released by Beggars Banquet label with a track called ‘Disaster Movie’. Their debut single “Don’t Tax Me EP” was released on their own “Boring” label, the track ‘Fascist D.J’ on their debut release was actually about a local D.J called Tom Ferrie who actively hindered the Punk scene in Glasgow at the time! #theexile #scottishpunk #70sukpunk by @breakout_records
