This Thanksgiving Archie is grateful for Fentanyl and Flagyl. I am grateful for the turkey sandwich my parents brought to the ER and for the support of my husband who helped me realize I needed to get my baby to the hospital. Good riddance appendix. taken in Utah Valley Hospital by @breanneking1

As I enter into the second score of my existence, and nearing the 20th anniversary of a tragic equine-involved incident that included two months requiring professional intervention and supervision, it is time for a colossal stride. Feeling foolish for my past, “getting back on the horse” was less about the horse and more about how I was perceived (or thought I was perceived). If only sitting astride was all it took.

After the passing of 2 decades I feel like Uncle Rico, the high school football star, whenever I mention my time in the hospital. I typically keep the discussion short, because I feel like I should be “over it.” Also, that ludicrous lump in my throat is back. Seriously it’s been 20 years. Go away. I’m so chill.

Having failed to supplant the horse with other pets and activities, I am taking hold of the reins. I have decided it is most prudent for me to acquire a mare of my own. Enter ‘Maggie,’ Magnum Majestica GRK (Magnum Psyche x Crown Kapricka by HK Crown Prince). Never have I lost trust, love or confidence in the Arabian. I am so happy to be here. My 40s are starting strong. #arabianhorse taken in Utah, USA by @breanneking1
