The twists and turns of downtown Cleveland’s Cuyahoga River were no match for Brebeuf Rowing. In perfect fall weather conditions, 11 members of our team rowed in the Head of the Cuyahoga regatta yesterday - with a few of us bringing home medals:

🥇Tom Weintraut ‘27 and Emmett Weintraut ‘30 in the men’s 4x event
🥈Amelia Yorkgitis ‘28 in the women’s 4x event
🥈Emmett Weintraut ‘30 in the men’s 1x event

Special high fives to Sahana Pesek ‘30 and Noah Steingold ‘29 for completing their first races on the high school team as Brebeuf student-athletes, and to Emmett for rowing the most events/miles on Saturday of anyone on the team (approximately 18 miles… 6 of them solo)! We’re so proud of all our teammates who raced on that wild course under 7 bridges and around 5 challenging turns.

Before school starts tomorrow, a look back on an amazing summer. Our team worked hard to qualify for the 2026 US Rowing Youth National Championships that took place in June in Sarasota, Florida. Recent graduates @kaydencoddens and @laurenraines.rows had dominant performances, with Kayden and his boatmate winning gold - fastest finish in the nation! - in the mens youth double sculling event. Lauren and her boat finished 3rd nationally after three tough races in the womens youth quad event. And, incoming freshman Emmett Weintraut represented his future school in the mens U17 double scull, advancing out of time trials to the final event. We are so proud of these Braves for their hard work on the water and medals earned in competition against hundreds of crews from across the country.

Want to learn a new sport alongside a supportive team, with the chance to compete at the national level? Join us for the fall rowing season - learn more at @indyrowing!

Graduation day!

Brebeuf Rowing travelled to Cincinnati for the Midwest Junior Championship Regatta, a qualifier for the US Rowing Youth National Championships. While our seniors missed Brebeuf’s graduation ceremony, they made it worthwhile with gold medal finishes and bids to compete at Nationals next month in Sarasota.

Each of our boats advanced out of preliminary heats to final races in our events. The oldest and youngest team members were the weekend’s medal winners, with senior Lauren Raines in the stroke seat leading her women’s varsity quad to a gold medal finish; senior Kayden Coddens winning gold medals in both the men’s varsity double and quad sculls, and silver in the men’s varsity single scull; and incoming Brebeuf freshman Emmett Weintraut winning bronze in the men’s U17 double scull. They qualified, along with Amelia Yorkgitis whose women’s U17 quad scull placed 4th, for Youth Nationals!

At the close of every spring season, seniors sign the rafters in the @indyrowing boathouse. Lauren and Kayden have been great leaders and friends and will always be part of our team. We can’t wait to see all they accomplish as student-athletes at @wiscolights and @yalelwtcrew, respectively.

There’s no place like home…

This past weekend our home club @indyrowing hosted 25 rowing teams from across the Midwest for two days of races at Eagle Creek Reservoir. In spite of relentless winds, Brebeuf Rowing had a strong team performance at the Indy Junior Sprints with nearly every one of us medaling in an event. Across sculling (2 oars per rower) and sweeping (one oar per rower) events, in single boats and in 8s, we showed up in our boats with focus and determination.

🥇🥇🥈🥈🥈🥈🥈🥈🥈🥈🥈🥉🥉

We are men and women for others. Be good to each other, Braves 💚

It was springtime goodness in the Appalachians as Brebeuf Rowing traveled to this weekend’s Dogwood Junior Championship. Over three days each @brebeufjesuit Brave in attendance pushed beyond their limits to advance out of time trials and compete in final events, in stiff competition against 37 crews of high school rowers hailing from Wisconsin to South Carolina. Congrats to Lauren Raines ‘26 who won a gold medal with her teammates in the women’s quad event.

We were also glad to compete with our newest (rising) Brebeuf Rower, Emmett Weintraut ‘30! Brebeuf Rowing welcomes rising freshmen, seniors, and everyone in between. Many rowers don’t learn the sport until high school, and the summer learn-to-row programs now registering @indyrowing are a great launching point.

Next Saturday and Sunday you’ll find us racing on our home course @eaglecreekpark_indy for the Indy Junior Sprints… talk to one of us if you want to learn more about watching rowing in your own city!

Brebeuf Rowing raced against the Midwest’s strongest crews last weekend at the Cincinnati Invitational Regatta and Cincinnati Sculling Regatta - achieving winning results and gaining great experience to kick off our spring season.

Tom Weintraut and Jean Palumbo rowed to a second-place finish in the Mens 3rd Varsity 4, missing first place by one second. Lauren Raines rowed her single scull to a silver medal finish and joined with three of her @indyrowing teammates for a decisive first-place finish in the womens quad scull. Alexander Gentry, Amelia Yorkgitis, Charlie Grahame, Kiera Brothers, and Lulu Khairi made strong contributions to their boats in more than 15 races throughout the weekend. Looking forward to more sunshine (and more sunscreen) in two weeks at the Dogwood Junior Championship Regatta on beautiful Melton Lake in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. @brebeufjesuit @brebeufsports taken in Cincinnati, Ohio by @brebeufrowing

Brebeuf rowers @agentry2423, @tomweintraut, @milanabobana, @laurenraines.rows, @readyall_row, Lulu Khairi, Charlie Grahame, and Julian Lenard had a phenomenal day on Saturday at Indianapolis Rowing Club’s End of Winter Celebration! Here, they completed a 2000 meter row on ergometers, a showcase of all the effort they have put into their winter season, which included training at the @brebeufsports Wellness Center twice a week as well as four additional days each week of ergometer work. After putting in hundreds of thousands of meters and hours of conditioning, the Brebeuf rowers showed up and showed out with their 2k times and those who PR’ed. We are proud of every single one of them and very excited to see how all the work on land transfers to the water this coming week, as @indyrowing begins practice for spring season. Featuring short, high-intensity races, spring regattas are the perfect time to cheer on your teammates as they race side-by-side with other boats and have the chance to qualify for Rowing Nationals in early summer. Congrats to all who competed! by @brebeufrowing
