Summer break maxing

Or perhaps, more seriously

Every time I feel down on myself I want to remember this; I am in control of my own life. I know a lot people can’t say this. I know the privilege and blessing that I have to do the things I do. I know I am looked out for. I carry my mum and dad’s hopes and dreams. My grandparents, my aunties, the lives they lived, the things they carved out from nothing, the hard work they put in to live the life they’ve lived, to give that life to us – our family – it all lives through me.

I carry that with me every day. That I am so much bigger than just me. I carry generations of ambition, of yearning, of hope, of fantasy and dreams and ideals and love. That’s most important – love.

I miss my family so much being abroad. It’s giving me newfound appreciation to the home I used to resent. It’s not as amazing as it looks from the outside, moving away from home, but this serves as a reminder; every day I get to live happy and carefree, it’s because of them. taken in 綠島 Green Island (Lyudao) by @brebubz
