Sound on. I’ve been processing a LOT over the past few days- but I struggled putting my thoughts into words or a reflection, maybe that’s common when processing trauma? I heard this clip from @newageceo this morning and the message resonated so deeply within my spirit. Joel 2:25 says , “ I will restore to you the years that the swarming locusts has eaten.” God promises restoration after a season of devastation. (The surrounding passage speaks about the land becoming fruitful again and God’s people no longer living in shame).

The theme is this: God can restore what has been devastated and bring fruitfulness again. I am LIVING in this theme and it is beautiful. Only GOD. One man no longer gets to define an entire college campus for me. Darkness never gets the final word. A reminder for the woman who’s been told she’s “too much.” 🤍

Too sensitive. Too outspoken. Too opinionated. Too different.

Maybe the very things you’ve been trying to tone down are the things God wants to use.

You don’t have to become a smaller version of yourself to make everyone else comfortable.

Becoming who God created you to be might mean disappointing a few people along the way.

Send this to a woman who needs the reminder. 🤍

Perspective is a gift. I get it mama… some days are hard, like REALLY hard. You don’t know whether to laugh or cry- and sometimes you do both. You love your child fiercely, but your body is overwhelmed and overstimulated because you are the source not only for your own well-being but also for theirs. You regulate their emotions while trying to keep yours in check too. I’m living these days beside you. 💕 I have two kiddos with those beautifully complex brains. A few months ago my therapist said to me, “Has it ever occurred to you that YOU may also have ADHD and that’s why it is so hard for you to rest?”…. Welp, turns out he was right 🫣😂 I’m trying to shift my perspective into seeing the strengths that neurodivergence will gift them (and me). While also trying to keep my sh*+ together… You aren’t in the trenches alone! by @bree_schlereth

There is a tree between two worlds.

On one side, a building that represents one of the most painful part of my story. On the other, a baseball stadium that represents a new chapter for our family.
And right in the middle, a tree. 🌳
I noticed its beauty before I remembered the words of Isaiah 43:19:
“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?”
I keep coming back to that question.

Do you perceive it?

Can we recognize what God is doing in a place that reminds us of what happened to us?
Can we acknowledge what was painful without allowing the pain to become the whole story?
Can we trust that becoming takes time—that not every leaf changes color at once, and that doesn’t mean the tree is behind?

Walking onto the Michigan State University campus for the first time was an experience I can’t fully put into words. It held grief and gratitude, old memories and new beginnings, all at once.

And there was this tree, standing quietly between them.

I don’t believe every painful thing happens for a reason we will understand. And I don’t believe redemption requires us to call our pain beautiful.
But I do believe God can meet us in places we never imagined returning to—and that the places connected to our hardest chapters don’t have to be the places where our stories end.
Maybe the new thing isn’t always a new place.
Maybe sometimes it’s a new way of seeing.

“Behold, I am doing a new thing… do you not perceive it?” — Isaiah 43:19
