I dreamed up this Nicola Coughlan cover for marie claire Australia back in Feb 2022 when I interviewed her for the second season of Bridgerton. I had been in the job less than month but I knew she was destined to be worthy of a cover and I’m so delighted to see that two and half years later, we have the Lady Whistledown looking fierce In Schiaparelli for #polin season and our June cover - which also happens to be my last, before I finish up at marie claire in a couple of weeks.
In this issue, my partner in crime @harrietsim interviewed Nicola and wrote the most brilliant story. Thank you to @nathandann @vonvonvag and Nicola’s team for making this cover the least stressful cover I’ve ever arranged.
Creating cover magic has always been my favourite part of my job and I’m incredibly proud of the covers I’ve brought to life in my time at marie claire.✨ by @breeplayer

My mum didn’t just love Christmas. She created it. She believed in abundance, beauty and magic. She gave too much, spent too much, did too much, because that was how she loved us all year long.
Christmas just gave her an excuse to go completely over the top.
She was the heart of our Christmas, and without her this time of year has lost a lot of its magic for the family who loved her right back.
She’d be thrilled (and very proud) that we’re thoroughly spoiling the children as a coping mechanism. She would have loved me asking a very tall Dan Murphy’s employee to reach the champagne I wanted and saying, “I want the whole row.” She would be so happy with Dad (and Elvis) for keeping up the tradition of matching Christmas pyjamas for the children. And she would be absolutely delighted that my brother Matt has introduced his neighbourhood in Florida to Kenny G’s Christmas album.
Mum and I wrapped every present together, every year. I wrapped, she tagged, including the ones from Dad to herself and each year her messages cracked me up.
