New summer hobby unlocked 🌊☀️

We’ve been talking about getting paddle boards for awhile. And finally made it happen!!

Life moves fast, but everything slows down when you push off the shore. Soaking up the sun & quiet.

Definitely making this a regular routine.

I got a very meaningful tattoo today. 🥹🍯

I have been wanting to get one of my mom’s handwriting since she passed, but have been waiting for when it felt right to do so.

My mom called me “honey”, and the kids “honey bunnies”… so this is for us. To keep her with me always.

🪵🌲☀️Save this staycay away vaycay for this summer 15 mins from Ottawa!

We had a girls weekend away and here is what we did >>>

🔥Shout out to short and suite airbnb for letting us take over the fire pit with adirondack chairs, the sauna, hot tub, open kitchen, gym, deck, watch the sunrise and sunset, outdoor lounge and dining… and their massive tv for when we had meditation or karaoke for our gals staycay air bnb vacay away!

This jam packed weekend of girlhood was representative of how important it is to be part of a community, and how comforting it is to be around like-minded people. This was our 2nd annual ladies weekend away and it exceeded our expectations!🌲Merci tout le monde!🌅

Ottawa! We’ve found your new Saturday night spot 🤠✨

Whether it’s date night, a girls’ night out, or just an excuse to get out of the house, @lonestarloft at @lonestartexasgrill is such a vibe.

We got our boogie on, tried a few drink specials, enjoyed the live band, and stayed way longer than planned (always the sign of a good night 😂). From country hits to throwback favourites, there’s something for everyone.

Live music every Saturday all summer long, $5 drink specials, and late-night eats? @budlightca Count us in!

If you knew my mom, Marilyn,
you knew her humble & kind spirit.

She wasn’t perfect, but what mother is? We do the best we can with what we have. With the love we carry for our children.

And she loved deeply. She showed up for me. In big ways, and small. As a child, and as an adult. Always someone I could come home to.

Now, as a mom myself, I understand even more how much love lives in the everyday moments. How precious time is.

She’s no longer with us, and sometimes being a motherless mom is hard. There are moments I still wish I could call her, ask her for advice, or simply hear her voice.

I carry her with me in the way I love and raise my children. And myself.

Some of the best parts of me are reflections of her. 💐 by @brein613

This day crept up on me..

It has been five years without my mom, Marilyn.

They say, there is nothing like the rest a mom gives. The feeling of safety, understanding, and unconditional love. And.. how I miss that.

Living in a different city, I loved when my mom came to visit. Or when I’d put her on FaceTime with the kids. To be cared for by her.

Taking tiny moments for myself, coming back to them singing, ‘If You’re Happy And You Know It’ or ‘Skinnamarink’, like I had never left the room. In those moments, and so many others, I knew she had me.

I miss doing the ordinary things together. Propping up my phone, talking about our days, while cooking or cleaning. The calls on the drive home to share our good and bad.

Pulling into the driveway. Sitting on the couch together, with yogurt or ice cream in a mug, watching hallmark movies, soap operas or SVU. Shopping with her at her favourite stores, Fortinos and Winners. Bonfires in the backyard under the stars.

Her hugs. Her laughter. Her voice. Seeing her with my kids. She was home.. in a person. A place to go to when overwhelmed, or when I needed advice and support. I miss it all. Being with her. What I wouldn’t give for more time.

Losing a parent changes the shape of the world. There is a quiet loss of innocence in realizing the person who made you feel safe in it is gone. It is heavy being a mom, while not having one.

Five years later, I carry the weight of losing her alongside the gift of having known her. Both forever a part of me. ❤️‍🩹
