To our dear colleagues of the Recording Academy and friends.. The single, VELI YERUSHALAYIM has been submitted to the GRAMMYS for consideration in the categories: BEST GLOBAL MUSIC PERFORMANCE and BEST ARRANGEMENT, INSTRUMENTS AND VOCALS. A timeless longing. An enveloping sound. A majestic anthem of hope! Veli Yerushalayim is an interpretation of a many-centuries old Hebrew prayer, expressing hope and longing for Jerusalem to be restored and filled once again with Divine presence. A solo horn opens the recording, close to heraldic. The song then settles into its intimate core: Breindy's lead vocal, piano, and a glassy electric guitar that hangs in the air. The verse returns, and returns again, never quite the same. Harmonies gather, textures thicken and the rhythm pulses. The piano holds the floor steady while everything above it expands. Then it all falls away, and the accumulation begins again. Breindy and Matt once again showcase what they do best, bringing ancient Hebrew texts to life through a richly textured musical setting that blends the intimacy of prayer with an ethereal, cinematic sound. The Johannesburg-based duo collaborated with three-time Grammy Award winner Lonnie Park on piano, alongside acclaimed French hornist Mary Beth Orr, a finalist for The American Prize in Instrumental Performance. The result is an expansive arrangement that brings a traditional prayer into a contemporary musical world while remaining firmly grounded in its heritage. This is a song that we've worked on for a long time and really proud of, and now we're so excited to share it with the world. Working with @lonniepark and @maryborr3rdhorn on it was also such a great privilege, and we truly appreciate your listening. Dear friends and Recording Academy members (who have become dear friends). The first round ballot has opened and I just wanted to say how much I've enjoyed listening to the absolutely wonderful and insanely beautiful music you've all shared with me. The more I listen, the more inspired I get to create more, and I feel so lucky and humbled to be in the company of such fine musicians. No matter what happens, I'm truly touched for people from all walks of life to have listened to 'Veli Yerushalayim' and connect with it. So here II want to say thank you for your time, support and huge gratitude for the mind-boggling amount of feedback we've gotten for our 'Veli Yerushalayim' or as some people call it 'Veli'. And one more person that I really need to thank now who is actually behind the scenes, hardly on social media and the one who made the song into reality!! My special Matt, produced it and plays the guitars and synths. No matter how busy he was, and it sometimes felt impossible to work on the song, as there was so much else going on, I pushed him to get into our studio and finish Veli Yerushalayim!!!! And he did. And with his magical touch, and effort he puts into everything he does, he made it into what it is. So here's to all of us making music, and making more music, inspiring each other to create more by everything we're listening to and the experiences we go through, and building each other up. For 'Veli Yerushalayim', we had the privilege of working with the highly sought-after and exceptionally talented South African photographer Paul Shiakallis, a LensCulture Emerging Talent Award recipient whose work has been featured in publications including i-D Magazine USA, The Guardian UK, New York Magazine, and Mail & Guardian. Paul also created the artwork for our SAMA-nominated album, Ruth Avenue. The shoot took place at my parents’ home, an open and welcoming home where people from all walks of life would gather for a meal and my mother’s famous cholent, a traditional stew that cooks throughout Friday night and is served on the Shabbos-day meal. Paul photographed us throughout the property, including the pool, garden, and different rooms of the house. The 'Veli Yerushalayim' photographs were taken in my father’s study, surrounded by ancient and treasured seforim (holy books of Torah learning). That study was a place that made you feel better simply by walking into it. So many people found comfort sitting there and receiving guidance and advice from my father, particularly when they were going through challenges and struggles. The seforim represented generations of Torah learning, kindness and integrity, values that were lived out every day in front of them, and therefore soaked into them. Little did I know that shortly after the shoot, my parents’ home would burn down, destroying everything inside, including those very seforim. For me, the photographs of Veli Yerushalayim are therefore much more than album artwork. They are a record of a place where learning, kindness, hospitality and integrity were lived, and of a home whose physical walls may be gone, but whose spirit remains. We hope the song represents that same integrity, comfort, acceptance and belonging. Veli Yerushalayim — new single out now!!! by @breindyandmatt

For the first time ever, The Choir with Breindy presents Acheinu, a timeless prayer sung by Jews around the world in moments of struggle and adversity, expressing a deep longing for redemption and a future of peace. Recorded at the renowned Jazzworx Studio, this performance brings together girls and women from across Johannesburg in a moving expression of unity, resilience, and shared strength. At a time when these words feel especially meaningful, we hope this song brings comfort, hope, and inspiration to all who hear it. Kol Isha by @breindyandmatt
