Eight months into a deal. The week of closing, the buyers decide to back out.⁠

That happened to Yisandy on one of her first deals. Two properties being sold together, months of work, and no commission at the end.⁠

That’s a tough loss to take, especially when you’re getting started.⁠
⁠
But what stuck with me was her response: “Although I didn’t get paid, I learned.”⁠

It doesn’t make the disappointment any easier. But being able to take something from that experience and keep going matters in this business.⁠

THANK GOD I found my current builder! He has been a complete life saver and brings experience & organization to the job.⁠

With that said, if you are buying a 1M new build you need to ask who is the builder and meet them. ⁠
⁠
Come with questions- come prepared to learn & most importantly advocate for quality.⁠

I forgot to list my client’s house. And there’s no excuse for that.⁠

That’s an uncomfortable phone call to make. But she deserved to hear it directly from me.⁠
⁠
I called, told her what happened, apologized, and got to work on getting it listed.⁠
⁠
She was gracious about it, and I’m grateful. But it doesn’t matter how many homes I’ve sold. My client is trusting me with hers.⁠

When you mess up, own it. Ask for forgiveness. Then follow through on making it right.⁠

If you are in newark real estate you know this is reality⁠

Tragically many of our community members are living in fear, day-to-day, resulting in loss of wages, if not worse⁠
⁠
So that said, rents are naturally down because the demand is down⁠
⁠
I’m seeing this in black and brown communities for sure but particularly in Latino communities such as NORTH NEWARK and ironbound ⁠
