The Mavericks are transitioning into a new era, just like we were 26 years ago. We went to the playoffs every year that I ran the clock (2000 - 2012). And to the #nbafinals twice (2006 & 2011). The Championship was so sweet after the bitter loss in 2006. Revenge in some respects vs the Heat. They won in 2006, in Game 6 at our place, and we did the same to them in Game 6 in 2011.

I have said many times, dirk became DIRK as a result of the 2006 loss. We were up 2 games to 0, and then lost 4 straight. It broke everyone's heart. But @swish41 became a legend after that.... Amazing to watch him grow, up close, every home game. taken in American Airlines Center by @brentsrice

We made a priceless memory this weekend! Dad and Ruth's first time to see a Ranger game at Globe Life Field. As I get older, I realize that these are the occasions that grow more special as time passes. #blessedandgrateful taken in Globe Life Field by @brentsrice

It is truly a Blessing to be with my Dad on Father's Day! Each opportunity to be with Larry Rice is a gift that I don't, and won't, ever take for granted. Today will be a day to sit beside him at church, lunch and then watch the US Open together, as we have done many many times. We get to tell stories and make new memories...and oh, we have GREAT stories and memories, especially on Father's Day.

But at the same time, it doesn't slip past me that a growing number of my (best) friends no longer have the opportunity for even another hug from their Dad. If it's past or present, there is no doubt that these are the days we can be grateful for the impact of our Dads on our lives. And, I pray that I can have the same impact on my sons.

I LOVE YOU SO MUCH DAD! for the example you are! Always trying AND SUCCEEDING to be a positive influence, to solve problems, to offer encouragement and to make people smile. You continue to inspire me in so many ways!! Happy Father's Day! taken in Plano, Texas by @brentsrice

Starting this day reflecting on the "Dash" of my precious Mother's life. She took her last breath just after 8am, a dozen years ago, spending her last days on the very same floor of the very same wing of the hospital where I took my first breath just over 47 years prior.

Got the call from dad around 8:13 telling me mom had just stepped into heaven. He was somber, of course. Tired. Singing to (and probably with) mom during her last few minutes while holding her hand.

Many don't know, but she didn't have too many friends. Not because she wasn't friendly. She just didn't allow too many people, deep in to her inner world. But I knew that world. We talked all the time. She'd call me mid-laugh to tell me of her funniest and sometimes most embarrassing moments. She would call me when she needed to vent and then simply to make sure I was okay.

My friends loved my mom. She was lovable. Friendly. Sincere. She couldn't help but give Motherly advice. And she had great wisdom. She would read her Bible constantly, and many other books about becoming a better person and understanding others. She was super smart! You wouldn't be surprised to know she never made a B. She taught me to do my very best at everything and to try out as many things as my heart desired. Sports was one of those "things". She was always there. Cheering in my best moments. And consoling me in my worst. Her heart was always in the right place.

She sang in the car, all the time. Just imagine! It's not hard for those of you who knew her. Her musical talent and notes were floating out the windows of her car. Sheena Easton's "Morning Train", Dan Fogelberg singing "Leader of the Band", or any Brooks and Dunn song, mom was putting on a concert and smiling the entire time.

I remember her being happy, but I knew she struggled. She'd tell me how worried she was. About life in general. If it was politics, finances, or me choosing the right "friends"...she simply wanted my path to be as smooth as possible.

Mom, I am fine. Life is challenging. But you prepared me for this. The world is messed up, but you always told me to Trust God. I miss you everyday. See you soon! ❤️💜🩷 by @brentsrice

Hank and I were less than 1 week apart in age. He died on this day 1990 when we both turned just 23 years old. I was at DFW waiting for my plane back to HOU and I walked past the LAX gate to find none other than "The Bank Man" sitting at the gate with his long legs stretched way out. I started a conversation because that's what I usually do. ( If you were a basketball fan, you knew how many points Loyola Marymount Univ averaged. It was a bunch. Over 122 pts per game! ) All I had access to was this yellow sticky notepad. Little did I know, in a matter of weeks his life would end. @glennseale happened to be walking by just as I got the autograph. What a profound moment! taken in Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) by @brentsrice

HAPPY 85th BIRTHDAY, Larry Rice !! Oh Man, what a year it has been! For those that aren't aware, on March 3 2025, Dad began his treatment for cancer in his throat/neck. Radiation and Chemo. YUK! He finished almost all of his Radiation treatments and about 2/3rds of chemo. The treatment took him to one of the weakest levels I have ever seen him. But, if you know Dad well, then you know how strong he is...His faith, his resilience, his determination, his love of our family including Ruth Lennon (oh what an Angel she is!!) and his will to win! And HE WON!

God still has plans for you! You're an amazing Man of God, and I am Blessed Beyond Measure to call you MY DAD. I love you today, and everyday! Happy Birthday!! ❤️ by @brentsrice

Tonight, I had the best seat in the house, right beside my Dad. And I even got to tell Mark Aguirre congratulations personally (watch til the end)! An incredible night to celebrate the retirement of #24 Dallas Mavericks of the legend, Mark Aguirre. I've played a lot of basketball with and against Mark, obviously after he retired from the NBA . Thank You to my dear friend, Todd A. Paige for setting this up. And also to the man who gave me the chance to sit courtside, to run the game clock, for almost 13 years, Jim Guy . Both have worked with the Mavericks for over 40 years. I'm eternally grateful for the memories, especially tonight with my amazing Dad. taken in American Airlines Center by @brentsrice
