In a fast-growing region like NWA, places like Wilson Park (Fayetteville), Orchards Park (Bentonville), JB Hunt Park (Springdale) and Lake Atalanta aren’t minor green space amenities, they’re part of what makes a city livable for residents.

These spaces create opportunities for physical activity and socialization that have real benefits on overall health and well-being. Greenery encourages physical exercise, such as walking, jogging, and cycling. These activities release endorphins, which are chemicals in the brain that act as natural painkillers and mood elevators.

That’s why many planners and policymakers across the country are prioritizing the development and maintenance of these spaces — and why Northwest Arkansas is ahead of the curve.

Bentonville isn’t just growing… it’s being designed differently!🚶‍♂️🌆

The city is quietly shifting toward a more “live-work-play” area, part of this is because of their increased walkability.

Walkability = economic power:

• More foot traffic → stronger local businesses
• Less driving → more disposable income
• Easier commutes → better talent attraction

Bentonville is turning into a boomtown, with rapid growth, new amenities, and rising home values as more people move in.

In Fayetteville, Arkansas, our trails, parks, the Downtown Square, Dickson Street, and campus green spaces aren’t just nice amenities, they’re economic engines and cultural anchors. They create places where people gather, local businesses thrive from foot traffic, families spend time outdoors, and artists and musicians bring energy to the city. Well designed public spaces like The Ramble make Fayetteville more walkable, safer, healthier, and more connected. Utilizing public space can support small businesses, boost property values, and strengthen civic pride, all while giving people a place to simply exist without having to spend money.
