spring in the southeast means it’s random shower and thunderstorm season thunderstorm 🌩

embracing the beautiful little pockets of window light wherever i can find it. sometimes, being forced inside helps push ourselves more than we would with perfect outdoor light with a beautiful backdrop.

maybe rain really is good luck on a wedding day. taken in The Bradford by @brettdonar

a few weddings from the past few months, photographed on film and digital.

a wedding is a lot bigger than two people.

every couple put a lot of themselves into the day, from the people they bring together to the things they spend months choosing. we want them to have photographs of the parts they remember and the things they never got to see.

we photographed it. these are the amazing folks who made these happen:

a few things i couldn’t stop looking at. the lines, colors, shadows, architecture and about a hundred different shades of blue.

alys + rosemary, you’re pretty easy on the eyes.

and summer, it’s been a good one. thanks for all the good memories.

i used to hate summer. i hated being hot, getting sweaty, sand everywhere, all of it. i was always ready for fall before summer even really started.

then we had kids.

somewhere along the way, summer became my favorite. long days, no real schedule, swimming until everyone is exhausted, eating outside, staying up too late, watching them make friends with whatever kid happens to be nearby.

now august shows up and instead of being ready for it to end, i find myself wishing we could have a few more weeks.

turns out the heat and the sand were never really the point.

a collection of quiet moments from earlier this spring.

color gathered gently throughout the day.
film slowing everything down.
joy that never asked to perform.

the kind of celebration we’ll remember for a long time.

christie & hao at the little chapel at haven ridge.

the kind of day where the taste was obvious, but the heart was the whole point.

elegant, sentimental, thoughtful, and warm, but never overworked, never trying to be anything it wasn’t.

full of friends, feeling, and the kind of quiet ease that made the whole day feel deeply personal.

two people full of love, and clearly very loved themselves, for very good reason..

an absolute masterclass in spring color.

when gabby and pt started planning their wedding, they leaned into a vibrant, intentional palette and the result was nothing short of an dream. from the perfectly curated mismatched bridesmaid dresses to that unbelievable floral arch, every single detail was elevated, joyful and completely them.

but beyond the stunning design, what we love most about this day is the energy. relaxed, present and just ridiculously happy. this is exactly what we mean when we say we want your photos to look the way the day felt.

no overly poetic captions here, just these two and the fact that spring has finally decided to show up.

kickstarting a very full season of travel and shooting this weekend and this is exactly the energy we are taking into it.
