On assignment for @wearewilderness in Botswana

Used only the natural light available to us and went very minimal on gear.

Really nice being back in the bush and remembering what the light in Africa is like.

This was a passion project we shot around 3–4 years ago. For a long time, it sat dormant — we didn’t know if anything would ever come from it. We spent a full day filming, following a shot list and mapping out different scenes. The final scene of the day was simple: lit at night with a 1200D and a 600D in a 3/4 backlight setup. It ran for about 20 minutes, captured in a single continuous take and cut into a 10 minute short film.

As the project evolved, it became clear that this one scene was the heart of the film. A few snippets from earlier scenes — maybe 10–15% of the final cut — made their way in, but it was this last scene that carried the weight of the story.

That night was emotional for many of us. It was Father’s Day, and there was a quiet, unspoken heaviness on set among the crew and cast.

Inez Robertson (@shakeshakebangbang ) performed entirely through improvisation, bringing a level of grace, respect, and beauty that was truly extraordinary. Her performance became the soul of the film, and everything else simply served to support it.

It remains some of the work I’m most proud of — powerful in its honesty and simplicity.

This project took time to reach completion, shaped in many ways by a huge life change that our director, Hilton Pelser, went through after we filmed, which made the film what it is today.

Proud to have been part of something so raw, real, and insightful. Thank you for having me and thank you to the amazing crew for dedicating your time and love to this.

New work for NETFLIX

Thank you to @netflixth and @overgrown_productions for having me.

A music video featuring @_.tiya_ @sdthaitay @ppdreams promoting an upcoming feature for Netflix.

I’ve always dreamt of shooting something for @netflix , whilst it’s not a narrative piece I feel like it’s a step closer to getting there, so thank you for the opportunity, support and for trusting me with your vision.

We used the @arri 35 and the @lomo_illumina lenses with an 1/8th black satin.

All lights used were @aputure.lighting

MV for @fyeqoodgurl and @warnermusic @warnermusicthailand - thank you for having me.

I drew a lot of inspiration from early to mid 2000s MVs like Sean Kingston (Beautiful Girls) Britney Spears (Baby one more time) Christina Auguilera (Genie in a bottle) - a lot of those music videos represent strong saturation and contrast which was what I wanted to achieve, the use of wide angle lenses are obvious. It was fun stepping into a past time.
