“Brutal, gripping and meticulous—undoubtedly one of the best theatre productions I have ever witnessed!” (Craig Smith, 2025)

After a sold-out 2025 season, this acclaimed one-man theatrical triumph returns.

What began as Ernest Shackleton’s audacious dream to cross the Antarctic Continent soon became one of the most extraordinary survival stories ever told. When the Endurance was crushed by the relentless ice, Shackleton and his crew found themselves stranded at the edge of the world. Marooned on drifting ice floes and surrounded by a frozen wilderness, they faced starvation, isolation, and the unforgiving Antarctic cold. Their only hope lay in a fragile lifeboat and a desperate journey across the world’s most treacherous seas.

Weaving together entries from the real life diaries of the crew- multi-award winning playwright and performer Brett de Groot breathes life into every voice aboard the doomed expedition, morphing between characters with lightning speed. Harrowing, poetic, and unexpectedly hilarious, Shackleton is theatre at its most inventive and visceral. “...An unforgettable production performed by a master storyteller” (The Witness, 2025) Shackleton will leave you breathless and in awe of what it means to survive the impossible. by @brettwesleydegroot
