In anticipation of my return to work, I wanted to ensure that I created some intentional space for deeper connection and so we tried something new.

We called them Woven Walks – one on one conversations while we walk with a Woven drink in hand. The goal wasn’t to accomplish anything extraordinary, it was simply to make space to listen, ask questions, pray, laugh, and hear more of each other‘s story.

We didn’t get a lot of Instagram worthy photos from these walks and I’m not too sad about it. We cultivated something deeper than what can be captured with a camera.

I’m walking away from this week with a lot of steps (yay!) and feel incredibly grateful for these women and our time together. Thanks to @fccsantamaria Women’s Ministry for your prayers and support! And of course a huge thanks to @wovencoffeeroasters for brewing such delish drinks!

Discipleship doesn’t only happen around an open Bible. Sometimes it happens during a backyard farmer’s market swap where we get to share generously, love deeply, and point each other to the One who provides more abundantly than we could hope for.

Before there was Brewed in Truth, there was her. It’s Advent studies and pedicures. It’s John Mark Comer and We Were Liars. It’s Elevation Worship and Taylor Swift. God blessed me with her and she taught me that connection means loving the things she loves. I’m so glad we get to love Jesus together!

I’m honored to introduce you to my daughter, Mia.

“Hi, I’m Mia and I am so grateful to be a part of this community! I am heading to Vanguard University next month to study Theology, and I can’t wait to pop back into this little space and share what I’m learning about God and His Word. I’m so thankful for all the truth my mom has poured into me, and I’m extra blessed to have the incredible @_kaykay44 in my life who has helped shepherd me into God’s calling on my life. These women each play a unique role in my spiritual formation and I’m so thankful for both of them!”

We believe that when we gather around God‘s truth and authentic conversations, He is faithful to reveal His love for us, strengthen our faith, and pour hope into every season of life.

“This hope will not disappoint us, because God‘s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who was given to us.” Romans 5:5

This is the verse we anchor ourselves to because no matter how many drinks we pour, no matter what we are facing, nothing brings more hope than His love poured out for us. 🤎 by @brewedintruth.ca

Looking back, I can see God's fingerprints all over this story.

What began as an April Fool's joke unexpectedly became the beginning of something I never could have planned. God has been so faithful to use simple conversations over coffee to build a community centered on His truth.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this story so far. I'm excited to see where He leads next.

On June 1, 2025, @csapey_ gave our church one challenge: "Pauls, start mentoring. Timothys, start raising up and being the leaders that God has called you to be."

I knew I couldn't offer expert theology, I don't have a handle on spiritual disciplines like I should, and sometimes my fruits of the Spirit are a little withered. But, I knew that I could offer a space for gals to come alongside and do real life together. At the very least, I could show how God can work in the midst of all my imperfection.

So, I gave my very uncertain yes, and God has been so sweet to this little community that is brewing. I wouldn't expect anything less from Him. ❤️
