Tuesday’s Chapel | A Heart of Humility 🙏

This week in chapel, Campus Pastor Steve Edwards challenged our BPCU family to examine something that can be easy to overlook in our Christian walk: spiritual arrogance.

Teaching from Luke 18:9–14 and the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector, Pastor Steve reminded us that spiritual maturity isn't measured by how much Scripture we know, how long we've attended church, or how much we've accomplished in ministry. It's reflected in our humility and our continued dependence on God's grace.

He challenged us to stop comparing our spiritual lives to others and instead examine our own hearts. Even those who have walked with Christ for years still need His mercy, forgiveness, and guidance every single day.

The morning also included a testimony from BPCU Track and Field Director Tony Hawkins about God's faithfulness in his life, along with a personal encouragement from our worship team about trusting God through difficult seasons.

As Pastor Steve reminded us, “May we never become so impressed with our own spirituality that we forget that we are still dependent on the grace of God.”

May we approach God and one another with humility, remembering that none of us ever outgrows our need for Him. 🤍 A choir of diverse individuals stands on a stage, with one person at the front holding a microphone, possibly leading or performing a solo. What a weekend at Confluence 2026! 🙌

This past weekend, a group of BPCU students traveled to McDonough, Georgia, for Confluence, a statewide collegiate conference hosted by the Georgia Baptist Mission Board.

Through worship, biblical teaching, breakout sessions, and fellowship with college students from across Georgia, our students were encouraged to grow in their faith, strengthen their relationship with Christ, and discover ways to live out the Gospel on campus and beyond.

At BPCU, spiritual growth extends beyond the classroom. Opportunities like Confluence allow our students to connect with other believers, deepen their understanding of God’s Word, and return to campus encouraged to make an impact for Christ.

We’re grateful our students had the opportunity to experience Confluence 2026! “Can’t, I have plans.” 📅

And by plans, we mean a calendar FULL of things happening at BPCU this week! 😂

From tie-dye and tote bag painting to ASL Night, a bonfire by the lake, and a packed lineup of Baron athletics, there’s no shortage of ways to get involved, hang out with friends, and make some memories.

So, Barons, what plans are on YOUR calendar this week? 👀🧡💙 Two BPCU students smile and talk while seated together. White text reads “can’t, I have plans,” above a calendar event for Pink Tie-Dye, 5–7:30 p.m. by @brewtonparker

Exciting News from BPCU's Education Graduate Program! 🎉

Several graduates from our first graduating class have officially received notification from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) confirming their certification upgrades!

Among those celebrating this achievement is Joy Dixon, who recently shared her experience in the program. As a full-time educator, wife, and mother of two, Joy understands the challenges of balancing graduate school with work and family. In her testimonial, she shares how BPCU's program made that balance manageable while allowing her to apply what she was learning directly in her own classroom.

Joy's story is just one example of the dedication and professional growth we're celebrating among our graduates. We are proud of the hard work they've put into reaching this milestone and look forward to seeing the continued impact they make in their classrooms.

💙 To our graduates, congratulations! We are incredibly proud of you and excited to celebrate this achievement alongside you!

If life at BPCU had a playlist, we think it would sound a little something like this. 🎧🎶

From the friendships we make and the memories we create to the ways God is working in our lives, these songs capture a little of what makes the BPCU experience so special.

Which song would you add to our playlist? 🔁 A smiling BPCU student wearing a white “Blue Crew” hard hat and blue vest participates in a campus activity, with other students behind him. Tuesday’s Chapel | Be Faithful Today 🙏

This week in chapel, Pastor Matt Peek of First Baptist Church in Moultrie challenged our campus to consider a question: What is God calling you to do today?

Teaching from James 4:13–17, he reminded us that while we can make plans for our futures, tomorrow is never guaranteed. Life doesn't always unfold the way we expect, but even when our plans change, we can trust that God remains in control.

Reflecting on the difficult days our BPCU family has experienced, Pastor Matt encouraged students to surrender their plans to God's will and respond faithfully to what He is calling them to do right now. Whether that means growing in their faith, sharing the Gospel, or taking a step of obedience, we shouldn't wait for a more convenient time.

“Be faithful today instead of banking on tomorrow.”

May we be intentional with the time God has given us, trusting His plans above our own and choosing to follow Him each day. Sometimes a few kind words are all it takes to brighten someone’s day. 🧡💙

We loved seeing the smiles that came from simply stopping to tell someone something kind. It’s a good reminder that you never know how much a compliment or a little encouragement might mean to someone. by @brewtonparker

Our Project Management students recently had the privilege of learning from Stephanie Wilson, owner of Bridlewood Crossing, a horse training and rescue business in Indiana, and a retired Ball State University professional.

Mrs. Wilson brought a unique perspective to the classroom by connecting biblical principles and Scripture with project management, leadership, planning, and goal achievement. Her insights encouraged students to consider how wisdom, purpose, and integrity can shape not only the projects they lead, but also the professionals they become.

Experiences like these give our students the opportunity to connect classroom concepts with real-world leadership and professional experiences, preparing them to lead with confidence and purpose.

We are grateful to Mrs. Wilson for sharing her experience and wisdom with our students, and we extend a special thank you to Professor Karl Hay for making this valuable learning opportunity possible! In CHR 110: Biblical Foundations, Dr. Paul Mongin is helping students build a strong foundation in Scripture and understand how the Bible fits together as a whole.

Students begin with an overview of all 66 books of the Bible while studying foundational Christian beliefs and practices, including salvation, baptism, and the Lord’s Supper. Throughout the semester, they also explore Old Testament narratives, Psalms, Proverbs, biblical prophecy, and more.

Right now, the class is studying the book of Acts, learning about the beginning and growth of the early Church.

Courses like Biblical Foundations are an important part of the BPCU experience, giving students the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of Scripture and grow in their understanding of the Christian faith.
