bmxgowanAfter my recent post about Phil Lynott, lead singer of Thin Lizzy, I pulled up this picture with my family in Dublin a few years ago.

usher once told me that the first time he visited Dublin, he was struck by seeing a statue of a Black rock star standing proudly in the heart of the city. That rock star, of course, was Phil Lynott.

Phil was raised in Dublin and was fiercely proud to be Irish. Ireland embraced him as one of its own, and his music helped shape not only rock history but also a broader understanding of what it means in to be Irish.

So, we of course, found the statue and paid respect. irish by @brian_atl_developer

Such an interesting and thoughtful person he is - not many people know this but he is the founder of tvg_hospitality which develops independent cultural and live music spaces including Omeara in London, the Orion amphitheater in Huntsville, Alabama, and Pacific Electric in Los Angeles.

bmxgowanAfter a few days in New York City, we headed to the Jersey Shore for the wedding of the daughter of one of my best friends from high school, Ralph Colasurdo.

I had the best time in high school, had amazing friends and have so many great memories from Toms River High School East. I moved there from Ridgefield, NJ (just outside of NYC) after my 8th grade year had already started. That wasn’t easy - but it turned out to be a good place for me and I’ll always cherish Toms River.

Pretty incredible to think we’ve been friends that long (despite the fact I moved to California right after graduation) — and really special to be there with him and his wonderful family for such a great day. They are my family too.

Was one of the best weddings I’ve ever been to… we love you Gabriella and TJ!

We stayed in Seaside Heights and, of course, had to walk the boardwalk at Casino Pier. I found the old stand where I worked when I was in high school - making cotton candy and waffle ice cream sandwiches.

We also got to spend time with my cousin Dave and his family in Point Pleasant and made an essential stop at Ralph’s Mulberry Street Italian Market in Brick Township.

What fantastic time and I was so happy that my son Conor got to experience the love and joy of a real New Jersey Italian wedding. by @brian_atl_developer
