I asked my dead grandfather for his help, and you won't believe what happened... (receipts at the end)

7 ways you can jump timelines into a new reality - backed by neuroscience

    1 Meet your future self. Picture her in detail, or write her a letter. People who saw an aged image of themselves put more than twice as much toward their future. (Hershfield et al., 2011)

    2 Write your best possible self for 15-20 minutes, as if it’s already happened. Across 29 studies, it lifted optimism and wellbeing. (Carrillo et al., 2019)

    3 Rehearse the new you in your mind. Five days of imagined piano practice changed people’s brains in ways that looked like real practice. (Pascual-Leone et al., 1995)

    4 Make if-then plans. “If it’s 7am, then I am meditating at my altar” Across 94 studies, if-then plans made people far more likely to reach their goals. (Gollwitzer & Sheeran, 2006
)
    5 Pick your jump date. A new moon, a birthday, the 1st. People actualize new goals far more often right after fresh-start dates. (Dai, Milkman & Riis, 2014)

    6 Change your scenery. A habit-change campaign worked best on people who’d moved in the last three months. (Verplanken & Roy, 2016)

    7 Stay past the wobble. A new behavior takes about two months to feel automatic, and it varies a lot. (Lally et al., 2010)

✨ You get to make your own magic. ✨
