I wanted to share something that isn’t as celebrated , curated or highlighted - something honest on the less glamorous side of this career … I fractured my 5th metertarsal 10 weeks ago now and got surgery on it last week. At times, it’s been isolating, restrictive, demoralising and painful … But it’s also been restful, rejuvenating, healthy and joyful all in the same breath. It’s given me so much perspective and redirected purpose. Whilst I miss being in the studio, doing what I love everyday and moving my body to music for a living, this forced time off has also been a wonderful opportunity to slow down, dabble in things I don’t usually get time for, to reflect and remind myself of who I am without this all encompassing job and the “ballet bubble”. A chance for the energy that usually gets devoted into this demanding and relentless art form to be redirected elsewhere for a little while. I’m looking forward to what’s next, when my body allows. I am so grateful to all the incredible supportive people in my life, who have shown up for me during this time. ❤️ Brb, upgrading into my new titanium foot 🦶🦾🩰 by @brianamcallen
