POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
✅ 13.1 miles, and nearly $13,000 for the @lgbtcenternyc. We did it!

Training and preparing for this has been such a challenging, refreshing, and eye opening experience. I’m so grateful to every single person who donated, to my friends and colleagues who showed up along the route in the cold on Sunday, to every runner who has welcomed me into the running world (I get it now), to my Dad for the best advice and taking me to get my running shoes in November, and especially to @mralexalba for his unwavering encouragement and support of me over the last 4 months (and always) 💙

This race may be over, but if you’d still like to donate and support the 🏳️‍🌈 community, the link is in my bio 🥰

On March 15, I’m running my first-ever NYC Half Marathon(!) and raising funds for the @lgbtcenternyc. 🏃🏻🏳️‍🌈

I would really appreciate your donation of any size (link in bio!). Every dollar makes a huge difference in the work that we do and our ability to save lives.

Through my 6 years at The Center, I’ve seen the profound impact its services have on my LGBTQ+ community. From our mental health counseling for youth and substance recovery groups, to HIV testing and support for new immigrants—especially those who identify as trans or gender-expansive.

If you read this far, and especially if you donate, thank you for believing in me and this work. 💙

Producing this event is one of the greatest privileges of my job. I get to spend 4 days with hundreds of deeply kind, generous, queer, and allied humans from NYC and beyond, in spandex and tutus, at the earliest hours of the morning, in nondescript hotel ballrooms and parking lots, all for the purpose of raising money for the @lgbtcenternyc. It’s immensely difficult and exhausting, and completely worth it — to the point where I already miss it. I’m so grateful for the dedicated people I work with, the Riders, and the Crew, who make the late nights and year of preparation full of joy, delirium, and laughter. This year’s Cycle also marks 6 years at The Center for me, and I’m excited to be a part of the event’s next chapter and future ahead. Onward!

I’ve taken some time over the last few days of ~not working~ to look back on captured moments from the year. Translation: I am that guy who looks at all past photos the second I board an airplane.

Somewhere along the line I think I lost track of posting and the urge to do so (a good thing?), but I still want to share more (at least in this moment - we’ll see!), without too much polish or worry or thought, while still protecting the feeling of keeping (most) moments to my brain and my heart.

So, before I get distracted and not do it, here comes a series of a few posts featuring some of the people, places, and experiences that gave me joy, comfort, growth, nostalgia, challenge, and laughter, scattered throughout the last 6-8 ish months. ✨💙 by @briandoyle

Six years with this one 💚💙 We recently stumbled upon the place where we took one of our first photos together. So we thought it’d be cute to recreate it ☺️

Today is my 30th birthday. Since no one’s asking, here’s 30 things I’ve learned and try to remember:

1. Moisturize.
2. A quick walk outside can make the day more productive.
3. Chosen family is a beautiful & crucial aspect of life.
4. Being busier than someone else doesn’t make you better than them.
5. Queer history should be taught in school.
6. Impact is often more important than intent.
7. Love is an action and a choice.
8. Thinking of what I’m going to say next when someone is speaking isn’t actually listening.
9. Age almost never depicts someone’s energy, stamina, or maturity.
10. Staying in and watching TV is a perfectly good use of time.
11. The best restaurants are not usually the most expensive ones.
12. Calling my grandparents used to last forever, and now it’s either too short or impossible. Call family more often.
13. Complain less, say “yes”more.
14. Getting a dog is a big, personal decision, but it yields infinite joy and love.
15. Don’t wait until New Year’s Day to change or start something. It’s just another day.
16. Drink more water.
17. Some people just don’t like me and that’s okay.
18. Feedback can be extremely hard to give and to receive. Keep working on this.
19. Live theater, meteor showers, seeing movies in theaters, coffee shops & bookstores are all magical parts of life.
20. Many people have no idea what they’re doing.
21. Just because you’re not in the band doesn’t mean you’re not “in the band.”
22. Be kind to airline staff. It’s really that simple. In fact, be kind to everyone.
23. Playing sports as a kid taught me a lot about the world and how to treat people.
24. It’s okay to care what other people think about you; just don’t let it control you.
25. Keep traveling. Especially while you’re able.
26. Painting your nails is scary at first, but then it becomes fairly subconscious & wonderful. Like most new things.
27. Disagreement & differences are good and allow for growth.
28. Growing apart from a friend doesn’t have to diminish what you had when you had it.
29. Teachers are true heroes of society and we should treat them like it.
30. Few things beat good conversation with great people.

Still smiling about this night. Last week’s benefit for the @lgbtcenternyc was a treasure of an evening. We raised over $70,000 while bringing together over 400 fabulous, queer performers and supporters to an electric room three floors underground in the middle of Manhattan. Here’s some of my favorite shots of the evening, thanks to the talented @dapingluo 📸.

Immense gratitude to the incomparable @bartschland, @charleneincarnate, my team, the incredible folks at Tito’s, and to everyone who showed up ✨⚡️We’ll see you next time!

p.s. a special thank you to @mralexalba for helping me along the way and for supporting me (and The Center) from thousands of miles away. 💙 taken in New York, New York by @briandoyle
