For the students and faculty of the SDSU Jazz Ensembles, this collaboration with Grammy-winning artist Danilo Pérez is more than a performance. It’s a chance to be part of a cross-border mission that connects communities through the shared language of jazz.

4 days. 2 countries. 1 world of musical artistry.

See Danilo Pérez and the SDSU Jazz Ensembles live at the Marquee Event on Saturday, October 3rd at The California Center for the Arts, Escondido.

For the first time ever, Grammy winning artist Danilo Pérez is collaborating with the SDSU Jazz Ensembles.

Students and faculty will join Danilo on stage at the 2026 San Diego Tijuana International Jazz Festival, bringing together one of jazz’s most celebrated artists with the next generation of musicians.

We sat in as the students received the music for the first time and heard what this collaboration means to them, their music, and their future.

Watch the story behind this rare collaboration, then join us for their performance on Saturday, October 3 at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido.
