The first leg of the Billy Strings tour is officially in the books, Asheville… wow!
Billy sporting faces jacket night 2! This past week is something I’ll carry with me. It’s such a powerful reminder of why I keep pushing, even when the road gets tough. Moments like these light everything up and show what’s truly possible. Some magic out there!🌠

Whoa—some real full circle stuff!
Twenty-four years ago, I was in Philly—paralyzed and at my lowest point. I used to sit by the window at Magee Rehab, staring out at the city, trying to scrape together some meaning, some hope. It all felt so far away. Was there still a life waiting for me out there? I wrestled with some very dark thoughts. I was terrified then—and honestly, I still am most days.

But back then I made a choice: to give everything I had, to not let anything stop me from finding a dream, a passion, a reason to keep going, no matter what. And somehow, I found it! That dream carried me forward, and now it’s brought me back.

Just around the corner from Magee Rehab, where I once sat looking out that window, stands the Wanamaker Building—a historic landmark in Philadelphia. And for the next month, my art will be exhibited there as part of the light show and Christmas Village. I’ve returned not as the broken person I feared I might always be, but as someone who has grown, gained, and found purpose through the very thing I once believed would take me out.

It’s surreal. It hasn’t fully sunk in yet. When I rounded that corner and looked back up at those windows after all these years, I was overcome with emotion—thinking about that younger version of me, feeling so lost. “You’re gonna make it, buddy!!” ❤️

Aaaand coincidentally, just a week after the Wanamaker show begins comes another milestone: the opening reception for my first-ever solo exhibit, showcasing 18 years of creating. Life has been more challenging than I ever imagined possible—but it’s been balanced by so much love, the kind I wouldn’t trade for anything.

I’m deeply thankful to everyone who has shown me unconditional love along the way. That’s where the sparks first started, and it’s what keeps me going.

The Drugmoney hoodie—finally making its internet debut! its one of the most personal and meaningful pieces i've made. People always ask what it means?? Its inspired by a very specific time period in my life. A time when me and my friends were really figuring out who we were. Our parents didn’t understand us (I wouldn't expect them to😆), we became the best of friends- because we understood eachother. We spent those years hanging in fields, by creeks, even in underground tunnels we found, just being ourselves in these places that felt like ours. Some of my best memories were sitting around campfires or laying in a feild looking at the stars, sunny days, lots of freedom.
“Drugmoney” was a phrase we said that didn’t mean anything literal or specific. It was just part of our language of that era. We would say it with enthusiasm. The first jacket I ever made back in 2006 had it across the front and back. That was when the first spark of creating clothes was lit. Every era of my life holds something important, even the ones that were a dash reckless, and that time shaped me into the person and artist I am. I owe so much to that group of friends—especially in those early post‑injury years—who never let me get too down about my situation and what I was going through. They were always there, and still are. I had this design idea in mind for years, then one day I sat down and had to get it out. I was thrilled about it. It kinda floated around my house for months until a friend saw it and said, “You HAVE to do something with this.” So I did a run of 100 hoodies with the design, took them to Elements music fest, and to my surprise they sold out in a day. The same thing happened at two other festivals. It’s been amazing watching people connect with it in their own way. To me it represents freedom, being myself, weirdness, fun and a dash of whaaat???? I’m really proud of it, thanks for embracing it with me! by @brians_dots

Jacket process reel😀
I didn’t get a chance in this video to talk about the manufacturer.. I spent 3 years testing different manufacturers until I finally found one with the print and fabric quality I was looking for (I almost gave up) as well as understanding my vision for each design. It was another full year dialing in all the measurements for these jackets. A labor of love — very frustrating at times — but it feels so good to finally have everything locked in. Every jacket design and every piece of art is handmade. Even though this whole thing is called Brian’s Dots, I don’t only make dots anymore. A few years ago I wrestled with the idea of trying new mediums, I kinda felt like I had to make dots. Eventually I realized it was just time to explore. The dots will always be a huge part of what I do, and I always come back to that style, but trying new ways of making art has been incredibly freeing and inspiring. Thanks for checking it out and all the love that has been shown to these jackets❤️
