Dear Black Hills State,

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to grow and fill my heart with love. Over the past 2 years I have had more fun than could ever be imagined and met countless friends. Friends who make leaving so hard and who I’m going to miss so deeply. The type of friends who are there whether it’s the craziest day of your life or the most “futon in the front yard” type day. I can’t put into words how grateful I am to have been blessed the opportunity to interact with so many new people and with the small time I’ve had with them, hopefully I’ve positively impacted it even if it’s just a little. With that being said I have decided to enter the transfer portal. I wish I could take everyone I’ve met and my whole team with me wherever I go but I guess I’ll have to love them from a distance. My decision actually had nothing to do with the school, or the team, or the coaching, or anything of that matter. In fact I wouldn’t change anything about my first two years of college. It all came down to what I felt was necessary for me as a person to grow. Growing up in South Dakota is a blessing that I do not take for granted, but I’ve known for a long time that at some point there was going to be a time in my life that I would need to leave, and see the world through a different lens. After a lot of thinking and time, I realized that time is now. I’m so excited to see where life takes me, but Spearfish will always be a piece of home.

To my team and coaches: Thank you for everything. All the laughter, the bus rides, having my back, the encouragement, being a light. I will always hold onto our memories! Thank you to my coaches for taking a chance on me and believing in me and being there through thick and thin. I wish you all the best of luck going forward and I know all of you will do great things.

Everyone I’ve met here I hold so near and dear to my heart, which will make leaving incredibly hard because I won’t be able to hold them so tightly. But this is something I have to do to grow and I will always come back and visit. Just know that if I’ve met you here, you’ll always have a friend in me.
