This is it was one of the very first gay bars in Milwaukee I’ve ever went to. Not only that it’s where I got my start drag. It wasn’t just a bar in Milwaukee It was a safe space it was a 2nd home to me. Because of this is it, I went from moving here six years ago not knowing a whole lot of queer people like myself to now having a whole bunch of queer friends that I keep very close to my heart.

I’m very grateful for the friendships I’ve made through This is it and Im grateful to have met other people as well. I’m gonna cherish every single memory I’ve had in this place as long as I shall live.

I’m incredibly devastated about the news about This Is it closing it’s doors even writing this post is absolutely heart wrenching because not only a queer safe space is gone but a historical staple of Milwaukee is entirely gone in an a time like this where people want to attack, demean and strip our rights away from us just because we exist.

As devastated as I am about this news my hope is that more queer safe spaces will be opening up soon where queer artists can express their craft, and for queer people to feel accepted and loved without any judgment. And I will continue to fight what’s right because as a community we are resilient.

To This Is It thank you for providing a safe space for your LGBTQ plus people in Milwaukee and thank you for providing queer entertainers and queer artists a space to show their craft.

Thank you This is it❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

#nationalcomingoutday

I took this photo a few months later after I came out to my mom and my dad and I came out I believe right after I turned 18 it was journey to come in to terms about who i am and I’ve learned a lot about embracing who i am and not being scared about what others thought about me whether it was family, friends, co-workers etc.

Growing up I lived in a very conservative environment that didn’t have alot of resources for LGBTQ+ people so a lot of my life I was insecure about who I was and was very lost and couldn’t figure out what made me unique up until I started visiting the LGBT community center in Downtown Milwaukee thats when I realized this is where I needed to be in the future.

Fast Forward To 2019 When I moved to Milwaukee officially I started to attend LGBTQ events, festivals, drag shows and even started hanging out at This is it where I met alot of people who I consider to be good friends of mine and even got to perform in drag for the first time in late 2020

Today, 2022 I’m Proud to be who I am today as a Gay Genderfluid/Non-Binary Person and I‘m proud to be unapologetically me.
