Sweeeet Rhett, welcome to *official* adulthood. As every parent with wide-eyed wonder will attest, it’s impossible to grasp how fast 2️⃣1️⃣ years can fly by. But here you are, legal and thriving, and we could not be more proud. Your quick wit, deep empathy, and passion for engaging with complex problems and challenging ideas are strengths that will serve you well — believe me, this world needs you. Happy, Happy Birthday to my handsome boy! 🎉🎂💯♏️ 🎈

Sailing into summer in such a picturesque and historic part of the country! First time “on island” and what a special visit. Cemeteries dating back to the late 1600s, roaming wild turkeys, Katama Bay clamming, hangin at The Hemingway Bar, and the most amazing hosts and friends. Thank you to them all. Amazing to visit in the 250th birthday summer…🦞⛵️🇺🇸

Please wish a happy, happy birthday to my Favorite Daughter! If you’re lucky enough to know how special and wonderful she is, you know a young woman who loves her family, treasures her friends, excels in everything she attempts to do, and has taught us all so much. Mothers and daughters get a bad rap but we are shattering that myth. I love you, sweetheart. Here’s to your next amazing year‼️❌⭕️ by @bridgbaker

Big birthday wishes for the incredible man I met just before he turned 28yo (!) who is still as handsome and wonderful as he was on that December night in 1993 at Lucy’s El Adobe on Melrose. Back then he drove a yellow ‘67 Mustang in Levi’s and a leather jacket, mountain biked from his Hollywood Hills home to his downtown LA law firm, and quickly offered me passes to the Los Angeles Athletic Club when the ‘94 earthquake destroyed my local gym. He recited poetry and quoted Shakespeare, and more than once was mistaken for Keanu Reeves. In the Valley!
To my volleyball-playing home gardener, who makes the morning coffee and BBQs the chicken, keeps the bikes tuned up and takes Carter to the Vet, shares his love of California history (and history in general), practices his faith and looks after us with devotion and patience, and honestly was Valley-cool before the Valley was cool — HAPPY DECADE BIRTHDAY!! 🎉🎂🥳
We Love You! ❌⭕️

Huge happy birthday wishes to my baby, our youngest, who is passing right out of his teenage years and that can’t be possible, right? It’s been two decades of Day-After-Halloween-Birthday celebrations, laughter, joy, and so much fun. You’re an absolute wonder, Rhett, full of a hilarity, courage, and empathy, and I hope all your birthday wishes come true. I remember that first All Saints Day like it was yesterday, honey. Happy Birthday! ❌⭕️🎂💥 by @bridgbaker

Such sad news. We’ve lost an absolute LEGEND within whose orbit I was fortunate to work two different times. First, when I served on the board of the Sundance Channel and later, when we established the Robert Redford Conservancy for Southern California Sustainability at Pitzer College. RR’s commitment to environmental advocacy was as deep and impactful as anything he did in Hollywood, and we’ve all felt for decades the intensity of that (breathtaking!) legacy.
I ended up attending the Sundance Film Festival the year the channel was sold to Cablevision/IFC which is where this photo was taken. There was a celebratory dinner with all the deal luminaries — Dick Parsons, Jeff Zucker, Larry Aidem, others — and I was introduced to RR as “BB, without whom the deal could not have happened because she saved all of our distribution.” I have the one-and-only Larry Aidem to thank for that hilarious and unforgettable intro which, years later, was a funny double take at the Pitzer celebratory event for the Conservancy: “Wait! I remember you! You made me $40MM.” 😅
My deepest condolences to all and especially that Sundance family.
