Digital inclusion is not just about having a device. It is also about who has the opportunity to learn, access information and participate meaningfully online.

Through the AGYW Digital Inclusion Project, supported by @bbcmediaaction , Bridge Connect worked with 357 girls across 12 communities and 3 LGAs in Kano State, while also engaging parents, families and community stakeholders who influence girls’ digital experiences.

Along the way, we saw important changes. Parents explored safer ways to support girls online, while girls shared what they learned with their families and communities.

But 3 LGAs out of 44 is only a small part of the work ahead.

Many girls still face barriers to digital access, skills and participation. Expanding access means investing in girls and creating communities that understand, support and encourage their digital growth.

Every girl deserves the chance to learn, connect and take part in the digital world.

Behind every girl who wants to finish school, become an engineer, speak for herself, or decide what her future looks like, is a world that must do its part to make those dreams possible.

Telling girls to dream is not enough. We must protect their rights, keep them in school, listen to their voices, and build systems that give them the freedom and opportunity to choose.

Through our Bridging Access to Girls’ Education (BAGE) project, supported by @malalafund, Bridge Connect Africa Initiative is working to strengthen systems, community participation, and accountability for more equitable education outcomes.

This International Day of the Girl Child, we call on more partners, organisations, institutions, and allies to join us to support more girls, strengthen more systems and ensure barriers hindering girls rights are prevented.

Partner with us to build a future where no girl has to give up her dreams today!

Happy International Day of the Girl Child!🥳🎉

A child doesn’t have to visit the worksite to experience lead poisoning.

When a painter scrapes an old paint or sands that contains lead, the dust can follow him home on his clothes, shoes and tools.

Join us for the Protecting Children, Painting Safely Radio Show, a part of our International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week (ILPPW) campaign for occupational safety and lead paint awareness on the topic;

“What Comes Home With the Painter? The Hidden Risk to Children”

Our guests will talk about everyday habits that can keep work dust away from children.

On Arewa Radio 93.1 FM
Today, Saturday, 31st October 2026
12pm-1pm

Tune in, call in, and share this with someone who works with paint.

Implemented by Bridge Connect Africa Initiative (BCAI) with support from the Lead Exposure Elimination Project (LEEP) Local Action Fund.

Is the paint in your home safe for your children?

Tests on 30 paint samples in Nigeria found lead levels as high as 129,837 parts per million (WHO).

Lead in paint is one of the leading causes of harm to children’s development, and lead dust can travel home into the places where children play, eat and sleep.

Protecting children and workers calls for informed choices and safe work practices, at work and around the household.

With support from the Lead Exposure Elimination Project’s Local Action Fund, Bridge Connect is joining the International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week (ILPPW) campaign themed “From Detection to Prevention”.

The well-being of a community depends on the well-being of its households, and through a series of upcoming awareness and activities, we will promote safer painting practices and practical ways to protect children, workers and families at home and in the workplace.

Rooted in over eight years of experience, this evolution reflects how we approach inclusion through three interconnected conditions: Access, Agency, and Participation.

Through community-led approaches, institutional engagement, and cross-sector collaboration, we work to move girls, women, and young people from exclusion to opportunity.

We don’t walk into communities with all the answers. We start by sitting, listening and co-creating with communities.

Their experiences shape the questions we ask, the solutions we build, and the change we work towards together.

A woman’s ability to make choices matters in the fight against gender-based violence.

At the WAVES Phase II CSO Coalition Advocacy and Message Development Workshop in Kano, Aisha Isa, a CSO partner highlights why women’s empowerment is essential to preventing GBV.

When women have access to economic opportunities, resources and support, they have greater agency to make decisions about their lives and are less likely to be trapped by financial pressures that can make leaving abusive situations difficult.

With support from the Embassy of France in Nigeria (@franceinnigeria), 17 civil society organisations are working together to strengthen advocacy for women’s economic empowerment and GBV prevention in Kano.

For Bridge Connect, empowerment is about having choices, exercising rights and being able to live free from violence.
