POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I graduated aesthetician school💌

This has been the hardest, most amazing and rewarding year ever. My 16 hour days have been TOUGH but nothing has ever been more worth it. I love this field!!! and am so excited to have a career I love. I’ve met the most incredible women, built friendships that will last a lifetime, developed a love for science, (high school me would be so proud) and am so so so stoked for what’s to come !! I LOVE NIMA❤️

I’ll be at the NIMA spa taking clients up until I complete my hours in December. ❤️ come see me!! <3 taken in NIMA: National Institute of Medical Aesthetics by @bridoesskin

Unfortunately, I have always been an avid skin picker. Sometimes, the compulsion to try to pop acne or other bumps that aren’t ready to be popped is too strong for me to ignore, but I’m working on managing the habit.
I often get acne papules which are small red and raised bumps without a visible head. They are often tender to the touch and inflamed. Because they are raised, it’s easy to assume something can be squeezed out so i’d try to force it, which would result in soreness, more inflammation, and my biggest OP😒— post inflammatory erythema (PIE), which in short are flat red or pink spots that appear after acne, irritation or trauma to the skin. You can think of it as a faded red “shadow” that gets left behind after inflammation has healed. The redness can stick around anywhere from a few weeks to a few months depending on the severity of inflammation caused. So.. if you often find yourself in this situation, how can PIE be prevented and treated?
🧸 do not try to pop papules!! They are not whiteheads and there is no opening to drain. Trying to pop them just causes trauma beneath the skin and pushes the inflammation deeper which = more PIE
🧸wear sunscreen daily! UV exposure triggers inflammation which can lead to a longer healing time or post inflammatory hyperpigmentation
🧸Avoid harsh products that could irritate or inflame the spot further. I like to give my skin a resting period where I only use hydrating and calming products and then, I slowly reintroduce exfoliants into my routine that can speed up cell turnover and help to fade the discoloration quicker.

If you struggle with a picking habit, I get it and most of all, I understand the guilt that can come from it! I’ve spent far too many nights sitting in front of my magnifying mirror with an LED light just searching for spots to pick at. I think having awareness of what can happen when you try to pop acne that isn’t ready has helped me control my habit.

I love love LOVE dermaplaning!!

If you’re looking for a skin refresh + the ultimate glow, I recommend trying dermaplaning. It removes peach fuzz and dead skin cells resulting in radiant and smoother looking skin. Not only will it brighten your complexion, it will also enhance the absorption of your skin care products since the dead skin cells and vellus hairs that can typically get in the way are gone. When we can eliminate the barrier of dead skin cells, our skincare products can penetrate deeper into the skin, improving their effectiveness. Another bonus of dermaplaning is the smooth canvas it creates for makeup application. 🤤

DM me if you’re interested or have had interest in dermaplaning but have questions or concerns. We can chat and see if this would be a good treatment option for you!💛

MICRODERMABRASION💗
My favorite treatment to perform and receive! This treatment gently exfoliates the top layer of skin and can result in:
🫧brighter complexion
🫧more even skin tone
🫧smoother skin texture
🫧reduced appearance of fine lines and sun spots

I absolutely love microderm. Fun fact- you can also get it done on your back! Our backs need love too and can also benefit from a good exfoliation 💗
