Yesterday was one of those aha moments. ✨Brie had 3 matches:Lost the first by decisionWon the second by submissionWon the third by pointsFor years, Brie has faced some really tough girls in her bracket, especially one opponent she has struggled against over and over again. Yesterday, she lost to her by decision—but this time was different. She didn’t get submitted! (Small wins)She had some of her best matches ever. You can see so much improvement in her technique and especially in her mindset! Mom and Dad are absolutely excited seeing how much she has improved over these last few months. The confidence, the grit, the determination… it’s all coming together.Words can’t describe how proud we are of you, Brie. So incredibly proud. ❤️Keep showing up. Brie went to Worlds as a new student from AOJ and wow… this tournament was on another level. The girls in her bracket were all incredibly tough and every single match was exciting to watch. Even though Brie didn’t place this time, I couldn’t be more proud of her.With Professor Ashlee in her corner, she stayed calm, focused, and didn’t let the pressure get to her. That alone was such a huge win to see. Every experience like this is part of the journey, and I know this is only the beginning for her. So proud of her heart, courage, and willingness to step onto the mat knowing what challenges she was going to face. #luonglife by @brieluong

🥉🥉🥈These last 3 tournaments this month have been a roller coaster ride. Ups and downs physically and mentally, not only for Brie but for me as her mom too. Being an athlete’s mother comes with a lot of lessons. It’s stressful, emotional, and sometimes hard to step back, but it’s also one of the most rewarding things to watch.Brie, I love watching your journey. I’m so proud of the hard work, dedication, and ambition you continue to show every day.Thank you Coach David @davidhuskyhudson for guiding Brie through all her matches. You always make her feel at ease and more confident out there.And thank you again to the Gilbodys for always being there and supporting her at her competitions. 🥉This weekend meant so much more than medals.Brie stepped into two incredibly tough brackets at both the Dream and IBJJF tournaments. For a long time, she’s carried a quiet fear whenever she saw girls from a certain school in her bracket. Just seeing their name used to make her feel small and intimidated before she ever stepped on the mat.But this weekend, she chose courage. (Well, she didn’t really have a choice).She faced both of the opponents she had always been afraid of. And somewhere in the middle of those matches, something shifted. The fear faded. The intimidation disappeared.Watching that mental barrier break was bigger than any podium finish. So proud of her heart, her bravery, and the confidence she’s building match by match. 💛Thank you to Coach Diego and all the other coaches and especially coach @davidhuskyhudson for coaching and guiding Brie through all her matches.
