Music for Nuclear Semiotics / Ceòl airson Samhlaidhean Niùclasach: out 20 November 2026AD
Featuring @gunghaol @eviejowaddell @josieduncansong and Alasdair Whyte.
Pre-order link in bio.

This album represents our musing on the conundrum of nuclear semiotics through the lens of Scottish folklore and the Gaelic language. Following in the same vein as our previous releases, Music for Nuclear Semiotics puts Scottish language and culture in a setting it is not often associated with - the distant future. Is it possible to create a message that will last 10,000 years? Will language, or humans, even survive that long?

We chose the Gaelic language for this project due to its enduring spirit in the face of historical persecution and erasure. If Gaelic can survive this long and experience a resurgence in the 21st century, perhaps it may outlive us all and protect whoever, or whatever, comes after us. by @brightdeadthings_

inWaves is the debut EP from @selkiesound - a collection of ambient dream pop songs you should spend some time with - link in bio to listen

🌊🌊🌊

song.

“The EP is about trying to stay open inside uncertainty, noticing beauty while you’re still in it, and allowing things to arrive, disappear and come back without forcing them into shape…

Some of these songs disappeared for months or years before I understood what they were, and many only found their form through being performed live. They taught me that flow isn’t always something you chase or control. Sometimes it comes from staying close to what’s moving, even quietly, and letting presence open little doors you couldn’t have forced open.”

The debut EP from @yaaass.queeen has been out for a week…have you listened to BITTERSWEET yet?

❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

“Love has a way of leaving a bittersweet taste behind...sometimes we only remember the beautiful moments and forget everything that hurt us. Other times we only remember the pain and forget why we fell in love in the first place. The truth is, no one is only good or only bad, but when love ends, it’s easy to remember only one side of the story...

To me, bittersweet is also that feeling of knowing a moment won’t last. Sitting next to someone you love while quietly realising this might be the last time. Everything feels beautiful because it’s still there, but painful because you know time is already taking it away.

Every song on the EP explores a different side of love, because love is never just one emotion. It brings happiness, pain, sorrow, anger, fear, hope and longing. We only feel those emotions because we cared in the first place. That’s what BITTERSWEET means to me.”

How Will It Be, the debut album from @bashirbillow has been out for a week. Have you listened yet?

Themes of memory, family, belonging, and self-definition run throughout Bashir’s work. During the creation of How Will It Be, he rediscovered a series of voice recordings containing recitations of Somali poetry. The recordings became an unexpected thread within the album, connecting its personal reflections to broader questions of inheritance, responsibility, and cultural memory.

🇸🇴🇩🇰

“They were recited by my uncle, Mohamed, which I had originally intended to learn and recite myself. When I listened back to those recordings, I was surprised by how closely their themes connected with the questions I was already exploring in the album. They felt less like an influence I was introducing and more like something that had been quietly waiting for the right occasion Researching the poems became part of the creative process. They opened up reflections on family, inheritance, responsibility and belonging that already existed beneath the surface of the record.

For a long time I felt misunderstood by certain people around me. Making this album helped me realise that it wasn’t other people’s responsibility to figure out who I was. It was my responsibility to tell them. I learned to tell the difference between being seen and making yourself visible.”

“For me, the album became less about self-expression and more about self-discovery. I wasn’t trying to communicate a fixed identity. I was trying to find out what was already there.”

Today is Mabon. The autumn equinox - where light and dark are balanced. We now head towards darkness and all the magic it brings with it. Yes the otherworldly and the witches and the ghosts. But mostly, the real magic that’s found in simple things like looking at the moon, hugs under blankets, lighting candles, spotting a fox.

Next month we’re gonna launch our new album and dance, scream and sing in the dark. Come and join us! Link in our bio- tickets are selling fast so try to get them ahead of time!

Have you listened to WHY from YASMINA KAÏNA yet? @yaaass.queeen - link in bio!

🔥🔥🔥

“The song asks ‘Why?’ Why did you have to hurt me? Why did you have to turn us into this? But it never gets an answer. Instead, it becomes a story about accepting that some questions will always remain unanswered...

To me, ‘WHY’ is about sacrifice. Sometimes the only way to save yourself is to sacrifice the person you’ve been holding on to. It’s about cutting someone out of your life because staying would destroy you. It’s also about hating someone for ruining your world and causing you so much pain. When someone leaves you carrying all the hurt, love can turn into resentment. That doesn’t make it beautiful, but it makes it real.

When I sing, ‘I got nothing left in this town,’ it isn’t really about a place. It’s about what heartbreak can do to your world. Someone can leave you feeling like everything you once loved has been poisoned. ‘WHY’ is about reaching the point where you realise you have to let them go before they take the rest of you with them.”

Have you listened to @merrowfolk’s “Let Me Be Yours” yet?

🪾🪾🪾

“This song was never supposed to see the light of day,” says singer and bandleader Clare McBrien, aka Mima Merrow. “It started as a joke song I wrote for Alex who plays bass in the band. We got married last year and I had been listening to a podcast with the poet John Cooper Clarke. At the end he read out his poem - I Wanna Be Yours. I loved it so I thought I would have a go at writing my own version. I scribbled something down which made me laugh and didn’t think much of it...

It stayed as a silly poem for a while and then a good six months later I wrote a melody and chords to it. My aim was to play it for Alex, make him laugh and that was to be the end of it. I played it to the band one day, again to provide some light relief while we were working on some of the more heavy tunes. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, they really liked it and demanded we work it up into the song it is now. I still feel a bit like a teenager who is pure embarrassed to admit that she has a crush on someone while singing it. But maybe that’s why everyone else in the band likes it so much. And I suppose it’s a good thing to really fancy the person you married”

I think that I might need you...
To buy my album! 😀

Like every other independent musician on your feed today, I am here to gently shove my wares in your direction.

If you’ve streamed I Think That I Might Love You, played it on the radio, come to a show, told someone about it, or thought “I really should buy that at some point” THIS IS THAT POINT.

Buying music directly from independent artists genuinely makes a difference, and today is a particularly good day to do it.

So please consider buying I Think That I Might Love You on Bandcamp.

I think that I might love you if you do. ❤️

P.S. UK PALS! The price shows in dollars because I'm on an American label, but the record ships from the UK so there's no crazy international postage ✨️ by @brightdeadthings_

Have you listened to the new @bashirbillow single yet? Link in bio to listen!

🪞🪞🪞

“With You is ultimately about learning to hold two truths at once: the desire to honour where you come from and the desire to become something of your own. It explores how love, inheritance and wounds often coexist; they’re not separate things. They become part of the same story….

Family can be both a source of belonging and a force you have to negotiate your independence against. ‘With You’ sits in that tension. Making the album taught me that understanding yourself isn’t only about looking inward. It’s also about understanding the people and histories that helped shape you.”
