The Workshop at Brighton Light House is a bit of a trickster. It’s a larger space and yet, somehow it feels cozy.

Its greatest feature might be the garage style doors that open up to sunshine (or moonlight) and allow our guests to take a deep breath of fresh air.

The Workshop has hosted a wide array of meetings, classes, workshops, retreats, co-working sessions, and celebrations.

We’ve practiced yoga and meditation, experienced sound baths, carols, and contemporary concerts, and there was an even a rapper or two (iykyk).

People of all ages have gathered here!

We’ve crafted vision boards, completed art projects, presented plays, shared meals, shot photos and videos, blown bubbles, and made new friends.

Truly, the options are endless. Come see for yourself!

Brighton Light House Workshop:

•Capacity: 40-45 people
•85” Display panel
•Sound equipment
•Coffee and tea station
•Optional large whiteboard
•Farmhouse tables
•Various seating options
•Multiple configurations
•Street level parking
•Accessible restrooms
•Friendly and helpful hospitality team

And coming soon, we’re decking it out for the holidays to create a perfect little spot for holiday luncheons (woohoo!).

Call, text, email, link through bio, just reach out to inquire or schedule, and we’ll take care of the rest! taken in Brighton Light House by @brightonlighthouse

What is wild about what would eventually be the space we call the Workshop, is that originally, it was intended to be a working garage where Dan could work on cars as he did with his dad growing up.

As the pieces came together, the space grew into something we did not want to fill with tools and grease and car parts!

We were also in the midst of a global pandemic while building (remember that?), and we were already getting questions about whether the space could be used for gathering? Never mind that the electrical outlets had already been installed waist-high for garage safety and . . . crock pots as it turns out.

Once the concrete floor was polished, Dan and I (Anna) were so overjoyed that we treated our builder Tom to a throwback of our wedding day dance to These Are Days by 10,000 Maniacs, as you see here.

Needless to say, there was a gap between what we initially imagined (working garage) and what would make best use of the space (gathering place).

The gap between our plans and the actual ways we serve the community is actually still evolving. Sometimes we have what *we* think is a great idea and it flops. Sometimes someone comes along and says, “Hey, what about this?” And we’re inspired to try something we hadn’t considered.

That is life, right? But in business, it can feel harder to pivot, and can sometimes even feel like a failure.

Since opening, we’ve learned a lot about testing out an aspect of an idea before committing to the whole vision. We’ve scrapped a lot of ideas! In writing, they say “Don’t be afraid to throw away the darlings.” And that is true in business too. Sometimes plans have to change and that is okay. In fact, adaptability is a critical leadership trait.

No matter what though, never stop dancing! by @brightonlighthouse

Now seems like a good time to tell you a little more about the room we call our Art Studio.

With a backyard view framed by tree limbs, both adults and children alike have shared that when they are here, it feels like they are in a tree house!

It is a light filled place where ideas are born and executed. Work is done, plans are made, and strategies are conceived.

Guests make art, craft content, shoot photos, and make videos here.

Dreams are shared, secrets are whispered, and two people were joined in marriage here (yes, for real, and it was beautiful).

Oh, the conversations these walls have heard. The growth they’ve witnessed. The excitement they’ve experienced. The people they’ve held.

It is a place where people can teach, learn, inspire, and be inspired. It is a warm, functional, and especially friendly gathering space.

Brighton Light House Art Studio:

🙋🏽‍♂️Capacity: 16 people
🛜 High speed wi-fi and built in video conferencing and livestreaming
🪑16-20 chairs and soft seating too
👩🏻‍💻Six tables
🌟 Multiple configurations
💪🏼 Endless uses
🌳 Great view
🅿️ Street level parking
🧑🏿‍🦽‍➡️Accessible restrooms

Open to all and easy to book, simply follow the link in our bio, send us a message at connect@brightonlighthouse.com, or call us at (810) 775-3588.

You don’t need to see the whole path to take the next step.

People often ask us how Brighton Light House became a business. It started with two people who desired space to do different things. We fell in love with 142 Brighton Lake Road knowing it wasn’t equipped to support those things.

We reimagined the space and got to work. We made a lot of adjustments (too many to count) and questioned ourselves many times along the way.

As a married couple, this sometimes took a toll on our family and on our relationship. Each time we faltered, we circled back to our intention to build something beautiful we could share with the community, the town we called home.

It’s been almost six years since we snapped this photo of Dan in the someday Art Studio and we’re still making adjustments, still questioning ourselves sometimes, and most importantly, still showing up.

Show up, get to work, stay curious, be willing to adapt, and build your business, your life, your relationship one step at a time. 🧡 taken in Brighton Light House by @brightonlighthouse

This year we were lucky enough to have three amazing summer interns working with us at Brighton Light House and All Heart Garage!

Gray conjured up some creative content, Alex helped with facilities and grounds, and Rory helped with marketing. This was their last week and we are sad to see them go, but can’t help but share their excitement over heading back to campus (Gray and Alex) and starting college (Rory).

Make it a great school year, you three! taken in Brighton Light House by @brightonlighthouse

joy/joi/Joy: a noun that means a feeling of great happiness, gladness, or deep pleasure.

How can making junk journals at Junk for Joy! bring us such happiness, gladness, and deep pleasure?

1. It feels great to get your creative juices flowing!
2. There is no judgment and there are zero expectations (ahhh, so freeing!).
3. It’s all about the process, having fun, and being in flow!
4. You leave with something that didn’t exist before, something meaningful that you created with your own heart and hands.
5. We get to do it together!

Last night one of our residents, Sarah of @anandawellnessmi, her “Ladies Dear Camp” besties, and some of their daughters joined us and a couple of our regulars at Junk for Joy! for their monthly gathering. They loved it and we loved sharing our passion for making junk journals with them.

What a great night! Until next time . . . 🥰 taken in Brighton Light House by @brightonlighthouse

And now, the next installment of our comic series starring Darya and Eric!

Swipe all the way through to see how Darya and Eric end their daily frustrations by finding an outstanding alternative to working at home.

They know they need some structure, but they don’t want to sacrifice flexibility. Hmmm, what will they do?!

Working from home can be challenging. How can any of us focus when there’s so much to do? Finish up the dishes or implement your social media plan?

Finding a space fully dedicated to work can help, and defined work space actually promotes productivity. Where should they start?

First, the Story Behind the Story:

Darya is a back end web developer and a mom who is struggling to focus with her kids home for the summer. With chores and work piling on top of each other, it can be hard to get anything done. Darya is seeking a place to focus on her job and collaborate with her coworker, Eric.

Eric is a front end web designer who struggles to come up with ideas in his home office. He needs a change of scenery, and a change in energy. Eric is seeking a space where he can find his inspiration again, and properly communicate with his coworker, Darya.

Can you relate?

At All Heart Garage and Brighton Light House, you can work in a space that promotes focus and collaboration, it’s that simple.

Give us a call (810) 775-3588) or shoot us an email (connect@brightonlighthouse.com) to schedule a tour and learn more about membership and meeting space.

See you at work! 😉

Once a month, our whole team gets in one room for training. We cover company updates, sharpen our skills, and make sure everyone knows the vision and their part in it. We do our best work when we're all on the same page.

Thanks to @brightonlighthouse for hosting our meeting this month. by @brightonlighthouse
