Now on Hauntologies.net : how Sussex police protected fascists on June 13th 2026. Link in bio. On the 13th of June 2026, just a few days after the Belfast pogroms against racialised minorities took place, fascists with the ‘South East Patriots’ tried to take over Brighton. They failed. We outnumbered them by a wide margin. Both fascist and anti-fascist demos were planned before the Belfast pogroms, but the hope that fascists had in building momentum from the pogroms soon proved too ambitious as the Carnival Against Fascism brought around 4,000 to stop the 300 or so that hoped to scare us into submission.
I wish I could stop there though. I want to say we won and that’s that, but it’s much more complicated (as usual.) Truth is that the fascist march would not have been possible in the first place were it not for the active decision of the Sussex police to carve out a space for them while violently suppressing the much larger crowd of anti-fascists who did not want fascists imposing themselves on this queer and multicultural city — where I live.
This much is very clear from the report published by the Network for Police Monitoring (NetPol) called “one day in Brighton: the policing of the Carnival Against Fascism in Brighton on Saturday 13th June 2026, a snapshot on the state of repression in 2026.” What we learn, from 97 witness testimonies, legal observer and medic accounts, in addition to photo and video footage, is that the Sussex Police deployed multiple tactics against anti-fascists including1 dangerous crowd crushing, kettling and route-clearing (to force the fascist march through), extensive and disproportionate force, disproportionate impact on marginalised protesters including disabled, older and women and the complete absence of any accountability. These include, by the way, “accounts of sexual assault by officers and a blind protester’s white cane being snapped and thrown to the ground.” by @brightonlock

After all the injuries sustained last Saturday, we thought it was important to post some information about what you can do when you get home after a protest to look after yourself and others. Massively grateful to the medics on the day and people on the streets who took care of each other. We look after us.

Please comment local low-cost well being services that you recommend to others, please consider if the space/practice has wheelchair access, inclusive of trans folks and is anti-racist before posting, include what information you can in your comment.

Thank you to @solidarity.apothecary , whose book Herbalism and State Violence has helped countless times and the information of which helped inform the slides about light injuries & trauma and insomnia in this post. <3 by @brightonlock

CALL FOR EVIDENCE – Please share.
The policing at the Carnival Against Fascism was violent, enabled racism and disproportionately targeted antifascists.

Netpol, the Network for Police Monitoring & Brighton Legal Observer & Care Kollective (BLOCK) are making a report into the policing of the Carnival Against Fascism. To do this we need your evidence.

In particular, we want accounts of the following:
1. Use of force: punches, kicks, batons, hair pulling, pressure to the neck/throat.
2. Use of pepper spray: close range, no warning, indiscriminate, removal of eye/face protection.
3. Photos of the police from the day

Send all testimonies to:
netpoladmin [at] protonmail.com
or @limeleaf.03 on Signal
by July 2nd.

All testimonies will be anonymised. The exception is photos which can be credited if you want.
The collected testimonies will be made into a report on the policing of the demonstration.
We will use this report to hold the police to account.
Please share widely.

If you were arrested, please contact courtsupport [at] protonmail.com for support.
