Meet Lara Bowen - Fine Art MA, Class of 2026. 🎨   What happens when you stop trying to fit your practice into one box? Lara’s work explores memory, identity and sensory experience through painting, installation, photography and archival material - bringing together sound, smell, objects and audience interaction to create spaces that invite personal reflection.   With over 25 years running her own gallery, Lara brings a curatorial depth to her MA work. We spoke to Lara about her practice and time at Brighton:   “My work explores memory, identity, sensory experience and the ways we construct meaning through objects, images and emotions. Although painting remains central to my practice, I work across multiple disciplines including installation and photography, often using different artistic personas or authorships to explore distinct aspects of myself and my thinking.”   “The course helped me understand that multiplicity itself could become a central methodology within my work rather than something I needed to simplify or hide.”   Read the full interview with Lara on our blog, or see her work in person at the Art, Media and Design MA Show at Grand Parade, City Campus 👇🏛️ Private View: Fri 3 July, 6–10pm Public Exhibition: Sat 4 – Sat 11 July Weekdays 10am–5pm, Weekends 12–4pm Free entry. Meet Sophie Norman - Fine Art MA, Class of 2026 🎨   Sophie’s practice sits at the intersection of science and creativity. Exploring patterns, symmetry and the aesthetic representation of life through photographic, film and printmaking processes, using natural and recycled materials to investigate texture, movement and the world around us. Their work is driven by a deep fascination with the connection between creativity and health.   We spoke to Sophie about their practice and time at Brighton: “As a biomedical scientist, I am accustomed to seeking and reviewing knowledge, trying to look at our world from different angles and discover new avenues to problem-solve, discover or connect. This experience fuels my creative practice seeking patterns, symmetry and an aesthetic representation of the inner workings of life, be they ordered or chaotic. I am driven by a deep fascination in the connection between creativity and health, which I hope to further develop after my Masters.”   Read the full interview with Sophie on our blog via our Link in Bio, or see their work in person at the Art, Media and Design MA Show at Grand Parade, City Campus 👇🎨 Private View: Fri 3 July, 6–10pm Public Exhibition: Sat 4 – Sat 11 July Weekdays 10am–5pm | Weekends 12–4pm Free entry. Meet Pasha Parmar 🏢  Interior Architecture BA(Hons), Class of 2026.   How can design support healing, community and connection? Pasha’s final project explores just that! A community garden designed for a refugee support organisation in Lewes, rooted in trauma-informed design and a commitment to creating spaces that bring people together.   We spoke to Pasha about her project and time at Brighton: “My final project is a community garden designed for a refugee support organisation in Lewes.”   “The project focuses on creating a safe, yet comfortably energetic environment for an existing, displaced community to learn, adapt, and integrate within the local community by growing and selling produce. The entire building is made to feel like an immersive garden landscape and therefore should invite the long-term local community to enjoy the space alongside new arrivals.”   “Working on projects based in both Brighton and Lewes - particularly the Brighton Museum and the Charleston building in Lewes, has been really enjoyable because there’s already so much culture embedded within those spaces, which makes designing feel much more connected to community.”   👇 Read the full interview with Pasha on our blog via our Link in Bio.   #GradShow #ClassOf2026 #InteriorArchitecture #BrightonUni #InteriorDesignStudent by @brightonsummershows

Meet Malvina Panaretou - Architecture BA, Class of 2026.   How can architecture respond to real social needs and create meaningful, supportive spaces for everyday life? Malvina’s final project tackles transitional housing for single parents and children. Designing flexible, temporary living environments grounded in research and real-world context. Her work balances practicality, empathy, and architectural thinking.   We spoke to Malvina about her project and time at Brighton: “My final project is based on transitional housing, which provides a temporary home for people in need until they find something more stable. Specifically, I’m working on a transitional housing project which accommodates single parents and kids, based on statistical research.”   “I would say the most enjoyable part of this journey was the site visits with our tutors, because it helps you see what happens in the real world, and I think observing reality gives you a different approach to architecture.”   Read the full interview with Malvina on our blog, or see her work in person at the Architecture & Design Graduate Show in Mithras house 👇 🏢 Architecture & Design Graduate Show: 12–14 June Weekdays 10am–5pm | Weekends 12–5pm Free entry. Meet Alexander Golding ✏️ Graphic Design BA, Class of 2026.   His final project, The Slow System, uses graphic wayfinding tape installations, slow signs, and hand-drawn maps to make people stop, look, and move differently through public space.   We spoke to Alexander about his story, influences, and the advice he’d give his younger self:    “A lot of my influences come from environmental graphics, spatial design, and the relationship between graphics and human behaviour. I’m particularly interested in how design can shape atmosphere and emotional experience rather than simply communicate information.”   “Reading Wabi-Sabi for Artists, Designers, Poets & Philosophers completely changed the way I thought about design - particularly the idea that imperfections, ageing, and subtlety could hold real emotional and visual significance.”   “Brighton feels like the place where I properly figured out what I’m doing creatively and personally.” - “I think the city naturally encourages observation and curiosity, which ended up feeding directly into a lot of my work. It has a very different energy to anywhere else I’ve lived it feels expressive, and constantly changing.”   See Alexander’s work at the Brighton Summer Shows 2026 👇  🎨 Art, Media & Design Graduate Show:  Open to the public 30 May – 7 June 🏢 Architecture & Design Graduate Show:  Open to the public 12–14 June  🎓 Art, Media & Design MA Show:  Open to the public 4 - 12 July    Free entry.
