Looking back to the height of the summer we had very special large format Wet plate collodion shooting day.
Making glass plates and tintypes and hosted by photographers @teimory.photo and @teimory. They made some beautiful plates in our makeshift darkroom. Thanks to all for a great day.

I will be running more Wet plate and alternative photography workshop sessions this autumn. If you are interested in learning this magical and historic process then please DM me for more details.

Its been a while (i know ) since posting.

But after a break i am back. We had a fantastic session with the amazing @debhum4 teaching large format camera skills, camera movements, and shooting those rare polaroids at Shoreham harbour for urban and industrial landscapes.

Its also fun loading 5x4 film in a pub with a loading tent. Doesnt stand out at all!

If you are interested in learning this sort of thing contact me for teaching mentoring sessions.
Thanks Deborah for a great day!

Many thanks to all for braving the heat on Saturday for my photowalk, forage and introduction to plant based developing.

We shot film and learned the properties and process involved in using plants to develop our films.

This was hosted by the brilliant @arttutorbrighton .
Watch this space and dm me for more workshops and events.

I am also available for mentoring and private tuition on all aspects of your photographic practice. The more experimental the better !

I wanted to see if I could run an 'offgrid' Wet plate session outside. So with the help of this amazing crew we gave it a go. Big thanks to @noa_madethis @alexmelo1976 and @ola.teper for joining me for this.

And it worked! All you need is good people, a field and a van load of old kit to make plates and tintypes while the sun shines .

Here's some of the plates I made.
If you like the sound of this then please DM me! as I want to run more outside shooting events and workshops.

I am excited to be running an Introduction to Plant Based Film developing workshop in Brighton @arttutorbrighton on Saturday 25th july 2026

The session combines a woodland photo walk and forage, where you will learn about the magic and science behind using plants to develop your films.

Then we will prepare our plant brews and develop the films from the days adventure. If you wanna make your photography more sustainable and enjoy a day out in the woods then this workshop is for you!

If you like the sound of this please message me for full details

Edward st basement, University of Brighton. June 2026
Large format Paper neg on 15 yr old expired paper; developed in plant based 'Catnip special brew'

This is a familiar sight for all who came through the Brighton University Photography course in the past 11 years. I shot this at a moment when it was unusually quiet in the basementthis week.

It marks the end of a significant era for me after having worked here in both Circus St and Edward st for so long.

(I dont like giving meta too much of my personal thoughts ) but. with so much change to reflect on in turbulent times I need to give thanks and recognise all the unique people who I have had the privilege to meet, work with, teach and connect with over the years. In turn they have influenced, taught and shaped me on my journey.

So many creative, funny (sometimes tough) but also beautiful times spent with colleagues, students and ultimately friends on this human
journey.

I will miss you all. And hopefully take a load of you with me! The end of an era marks the start of a fresh one right...
