September was full of movement and transition. Bigger catering orders, early morning sunlight (how divine) and the kids moving into summer sports. There was a lot happening, often at once. Chaos - just how I like it.

Reopening wholesale felt far more vulnerable and overwhelming than I had expected. It is a big decision to put something you have worked so hard on back out into the world, and I am giving myself a moment to appreciate that.

Then the Christmas samples arrived. Seeing the collection together and imagining these linens becoming part of Christmas memories in homes all over the country (and the world) feels really very special.

As always, I am so grateful I get to create beautiful things for this wonderful community of like-minded linen lovers. Thank you so much, it means the absolute world. Xx taken in Barossa Valley by @brightthreadsbarossa

I mean, LOOK AT THAT RED POLKA DOT. What a stunner. Hands down my favourite. I love her. But more importantly, look at how beautifully all of these prints work together - and how easily they will work back with the Bright Threads Christmas pieces already living in your linen cupboard.

Cherry, Candy Stripe, Cray… pull them all out. Add a new runner, a few napkins, maybe a new tablecloth. Nothing needs to match. In fact, you know me - I would prefer it if they didn’t.

The Christmas 2026 pre-order email is heading out this week. Make sure you’re on the mailing list if you want first dibs - link in bio.

I am absolutely wrapped with this wild, garish, fabulous little collection. It has completely stolen my Christmas heart.

More is more is more this Christmas. This is Bright Threads. ❤️ by @brightthreadsbarossa

SOPHISTICATED GARISH. That is what I’m calling Christmas 2026.

I haven’t released a Christmas collection properly since December 2023 - Cherry and Candy Stripe were the last - and this one feels like a bit of a moment.

Between La Tavola and now Christmas, I feel like Bright Threads has finally found its feet again. After a few years of stopping, starting, stepping away and coming back, I am back. Perhaps with a bit of a glow up. And this Christmas collection might actually be my favourite yet.

I have decided the aesthetic is sophisticated garish. Ha. There’s a lot going on, but not really - and somehow it all works. And THAT was the intention. These new prints have been designed to work with the Bright Threads Christmas pieces you already own. Pull out your Cherry, Candy Stripe and Cray. Add a new runner. A few napkins. Maybe a new tablecloth. Mix them all together.

You don’t need a whole new Christmas collection. Just add to the one you already have. More is more is more at Christmas, and sophisticated garish is not only acceptable, it is fabulous.

This week I will be emailing the mailing list asking for pre-orders / expressions of interest. Nothing to pay yet - I simply need to know whether I need to print MORE because the interest already has been huge and I really don’t want anyone to miss out. First shipment is due mid-November.

Not on the mailing list? Link in bio.

Stockists - you should have received my Faire email on Friday, and if not - please let me know, happy to email it again.
My Faire link is also available in my bio.

My clothes from day two of the retreat arrived today, so obviously you’re trying them on with me. YAY! 🎉

Day two is our fabric day. We go into Denpasar with Sandi, visit my favourite fabric wholesalers, explore the fabric market and start working out what we would like to have made. Together, Sandi and I have a brilliant eye for looking at a fabric and knowing exactly what it could become.

In August, I went in with a plan. That plan lasted until I saw the fabric. At one point I walked around a shop carrying an entire roll of silk because I was too frightened someone else would take it while I decided what to make from it. I ended up getting clothes made that I hadn’t planned on at all, including the set I’m trying on here. I am so glad I lugged that roll around like it was my third child.

This is why I love this day so much. You can bring a pattern or a favourite piece of clothing to have replicated, or find a fabric you love and work it out from there. It’s a whole day of looking, touching, choosing and imagining what is possible - and somehow it’s only day two of the retreat. Every day gives you something completely different.

Come with me to Bali in May 2027. I would love to experience this day with you. Details are in the link in my bio, and if you have any questions, please ask me. i am always very happy to talk fabric for an unreasonable length of time. Xx taken in Sanur, Bali by @brightthreadsbarossa

This photo was taken in 2022 and, years later, it still might be one of the best photographs of what Bright Threads is really about.

Great mates. Long, lingering lunches. A beautiful table. Too many bottles. Brollies down. Nobody checking the time and absolutely no suggestion that anyone is ready to go home.

The tablecloth is never meant to be the main event. It’s there to bring the whole moment together - the food, the wine, the conversations that get louder as the afternoon rolls into evening, and the people you’d happily sit around a table with for hours.

Nearly 12 months ago, I said I wasn’t ready to step back into the printing factory or commit to kilometres of linen again. And then, of course, I made La Tavola.

It’s bright, generous and deliberately mismatched. Lemons with gingham, stripes with spots and blue with absolutely everything. It was designed to be mixed with pieces you already own, added to over time and actually used - not saved for best.

It feels unmistakably Bright Threads, and I’m so proud of this spring collection and the direction it is taking the brand as we head towards the festive season.

La Tavola also marks the reopening of Bright Threads wholesale after three years. I’m very happy to be welcoming both new and existing stockists.

Available online now. Wholesale orders can be placed through Faire (link in bio) or directly with me. 💙🍋 by @brightthreadsbarossa

My super quick, slightly cheaty, oven-baked cherry tomato pasta sauce 🍅

De-stem a couple of punnets of cherry tomatoes and chuck them into a roasting dish with crushed garlic cloves, roughly chopped red onion, finely sliced pancetta, a good glug of EVOO and plenty of salt and pepper. If the kids weren’t eating it, I’d add a whole large red chilli too.

Roast until the tomatoes blister and the onion, garlic and pancetta are cooked and go lovely and crunchy.

Then comes the cheat: tear a whole burrata straight into the hot roasting dish and stir it through. The tomatoes collapse, the burrata melts and suddenly you have the quickest, creamiest tomato sauce. Honestly delish - and the kids absolutely love it.

Toss through linguine, add torn basil if your children permit it, finish with freshly grated pecorino and that, my friends, is dinner. Huzzah!

Love you xx by @brightthreadsbarossa

When was the last time you travelled and were responsible for absolutely nobody but yourself?

For many women, a holiday is simply the same mental load in a different location. You may not be at work, but you’re still organising the itinerary, making the bookings, finding somewhere everyone will eat and ensuring everybody else is having a wonderful time. It was only recently that I realised the Bright Threads Bali retreat taps into two of the strongest movements in travel right now - solo travel and analogue travel.

Solo travel gives you the rare opportunity to make yourself the only priority. Travelling completely alone can also feel vulnerable, particularly somewhere unfamiliar. A small-group retreat offers the freedom of solo travel without actually having to navigate it alone. You arrive independently, but you immediately become part of a group of people who are curious about the same things you are.

Then there is analogue travel - stepping away from the digital world and experiencing a place with your hands, your eyes and your full attention. We spend a day inside a traditional screen-printing factory. We explore fabric markets and wholesalers surrounded by colour, texture and pattern. We make ceramics, eat together, shop together and immerse ourselves in a creative world that cannot really be experienced through a screen.

Your phone isn’t put away because I’ve created a rule about it. You simply forget to look at it because your hands, eyes and brain are otherwise occupied.

For one week, somebody else has considered the itinerary, made the bookings and organised the transport.

You don’t need to make sure everybody else is enjoying themselves. You are your only priority. It might feel a little selfish. I think that is exactly why more women need to do it.

I am taking a small group of just 16 people to Sanur, Bali, in May 2027. I would absolutely love to bring you into my world.

Would you travel on your own if you knew you wouldn’t really be alone?

There are so many things we quietly talk ourselves out of because we don’t have someone to do them with.

We wait for a friend to have the time, the money and the courage at exactly the same moment we do. Meanwhile, the thing we really want to do stays in the someday basket.

If you have been watching the retreat and thinking, God, I would love to do that… but who would I go with? Please don’t let that be the reason you don’t come.

Come to Bali with me.

You can arrive knowing absolutely nobody. Before long there will be familiar faces around the table, shared meals, stories, in-jokes and a group chat that continues long after everyone has flown home.

Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is stop waiting for someone else to say yes and say yes to yourself.

I promise, you won’t be on your own for long.

This photo was taken at the ceramic workshop at @kevalaceramics during the Bright Threads retreat in August. I was standing in this beautiful room, set within an incredible garden that felt almost like a gallery, right in the middle of Denpasar. I was wearing an apron, laughing with a group of people who had trusted me enough to come along on an idea that had lived in my head (and my heart) for a very long time. It still feels slightly mad and utterly wonderful when I say that out loud.

I spent a lot of last year wanting to get back to myself. Back to who I was before Mum died, before I left my job, before everything felt like it had been tipped upside down.

But looking at this photo, perhaps getting back was never the point. The woman I was got me here. This version runs half marathons, cooks for rooms full of people, takes groups to Bali and has started again more times than she cares to count. Some days she knows exactly what she’s doing. Other days, not remotely.

But I’m not looking backwards anymore. I’m actually quite interested to see what’s on the cards for tomorrow, the next day…and all the days that follow. Xx by @brightthreadsbarossa

August escaped me completely, which is perhaps not surprising considering it began with me in Bali about to host the very first Bright Threads retreat and ended with me racing around Sydney on a Lime bike carrying enough gels and drinks to suggest I had escaped from the medic tent.

After nearly four years of thinking, planning and putting all the pieces into place, 14 women arrived in Sanur and the retreat actually happened. We ate, we drank, we printed fabric, we made ceramics, we explored Denpasar, we met the Bright Threads team and we gathered around a lot of tables. Watching a group of women, many of whom had arrived knowing nobody, settle in and genuinely connect was the part I had hoped for most.

From Sanur I headed to Ubud for a recce, leaning into new places, new experiences, new learnings and the early makings of a food focused retreat on Oct 2027. Then it was home and fairly much straight back into the Smashing Plates kitchen, where the catering side of this little business continues to grow almost entirely through word of mouth.

Somewhere amongst all of that, I ran my third half marathon for the year, was offered a gold bond charity place in the 2027 London Marathon and committed to raising £2,500 for the Brain & Spine Foundation in memory of Mum. Then I finished the month in Sydney supporting one of my besties through her own 42.2km and having a fairly significant oh shit, this is actually what I’ve signed up for moment around the 31km mark.

August was enormous. Bali, Bright Threads, Smashing Plates, running, friendships, new experiences and the feeling that several things I have been quietly working towards are suddenly coming to life all at once. A little chaotic, quite emotional and utterly wonderful! Xx taken in Barossa Valley by @brightthreadsbarossa

My push and drive to make things happen has probably clouded my judgement a bit over the years, I must admit. I have always wanted to take things from zero to hero so quickly that I rarely gave myself the time or space to simply flourish and grow from each moment.

That was definitely how I approached Bright Threads in the beginning. When I relaunched it late last year, I knew I wanted things to feel different. I needed my life to be more grounded. I didn’t want the more-is-more life anymore, or to keep trying to force square pegs into round holes. I wanted everything to flow, to fit and to move more organically and freely.

I am still very much a make-it-happen person, the say yes and I’ll figure it out as I go kinda gal - that part of me isn’t going anywhere. I am just getting so much better at knowing when to push, when to pull, when to trust and when to let things unfold in their own time.

Life is a dance between making it happen and letting it happen. And I think I’m finally finding my groove, and gee wizard it feels so good.

She’s just going with the flow my friends x taken in Barossa Valley by @brightthreadsbarossa
