I’ve been a little quiet this Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I think part of me just hasn’t wanted to revisit it all. Even now, having to tell someone new about that part of my life is never easy.

Survivorship is complicated. Cancer may be gone, but it still shows up in my life in ways I never expected. The fear of recurrence is real. Certain memories and emotions come back out of nowhere. And my body is still dealing with things it never had to before.

It’s crazy to think it’s already been two years since I was diagnosed and more than a year since I finished treatment. Some days it feels like a lifetime ago, and other days like it was yesterday.

But cancer also completely turned my life upside down in ways that have changed me for the better. I’ve changed the way I take care of myself (at least trying lol), from my health and daily routines to what I put in and on my body and how I choose to live. I’m more intentional about my health, more connected to my body and probably stronger than I was before any of this.

If sharing this does anything, I hope it reminds someone to please pay attention to your body and get checked if something doesn’t feel right. Early detection saved my life. #BreastCancerAwareness
