Lessons in film photography, from a general fuck up who applies said lessons to life:

Sometimes the photos look like shit. Sometimes your day, month, year, is shit. What can you do but shoot another roll?

Most of the time, people won’t understand why you thought the photo was worth taking. Most of the time, people won’t understand you either. What motivates you, what hurts your feelings. Sometimes they’ll think the worst of you for no reason. Sometimes, they’ll think the photo is bad. Sometimes you will too.

Sometimes there will be nothing to take a photo of. No subject. Sometimes, you’ll just be lonely. People won’t reach out. Won’t invite you around. Won’t make an effort. Does that mean you stop taking pictures?

Sometimes you screw the absolute pooch. Finger over the flash, light meter unset, wrong ISO. Sometimes the memories are better than the product. That’s called “being sentimental over shit that doesn’t deserve your time”

Anyway. Photos from the past I thought were shit. by @brihennessey

I’ve known Maya for 10 years bring out the dead wife montage!!!

I told her yesterday I have more photos of us drunk together than I do photos with my own father. I think the merit of a long-lasting friendship lies in how many times you’ve made it out of a bar alive with them.

We also always say we would have been best friends if we had met as kids. I wish younger me had had a friend like her.

Alas. 18 to 28. I’ll post another one of these in another 10 years 🤭 by @brihennessey
