It has now been 3 years since you left this earth abuelito..and there are still days when my heart feels heavy and looks for you, as if you’ll walk through the door at any given moment with that beautiful and courageous smile of yours that could light up an entire room. Ever since you passed life has never been the same for me. You left behind a space that no one could ever fill and it hurts so much. You weren’t just the best abuelito God could have ever bless me with but you were my role model, my safe place, and the father figure life gave me. Oh how I miss your laugh, the kind of laugh that could truly fill an entire room with so much joy! I miss the way you sang and danced with grandma and I, your corny jokes that somehow would always make me crack up, and God do I miss the way you smelled, your warm and tight hugs, the beautiful sparkle in your eyes that made everything feel like it was going to be okay… There are so many things I wish I could tell you and so many moments when I’d give anything to hear you say my name once more. I miss your voice, your love, and the way you made even the hardest days feel so light. They say time heals…but there are some people whose absence will never stop hurting. We simply learn to carry the weight of missing them while also continuing to love them but now in silence. I pray, pray so incredibly hard that Heaven will one day bless me with a chance to hold you again. Until then, you’ll always live on in every memory, every smile you gave me, and every part of the person I am today. Thank you for loving me so deeply and for showing me, through your example, what unconditional love truly means. I miss you with all my heart, abuelito.
